PSA: Vtubers are talking about the decreased CCV and VOD view problem and have discovered that it's Youtube's fault.
>>104263500
>>104265409It has been great because now my messages get read.
How can you decrease CCV? People are either watching or they aren't.
The more a chuuba bitches about muh CCV the more you know it's just a money making scheme to them.My oshis do it for the love of the game. They put out high effort videos for double digit views and don't cry about it
>number don't matt-ACK
>>104265507Counting how a viewer is calculated. When a streamer/vtuber ends their stream the post summary on youtube is the accurate number and it doesn't always reflect the active CCV during the stream.
>>104265409Another day another reason why numbers matter
I assume the coming idpocalypse is going to do emotional damage to 98% of sex-baiting e-sluts.
>>104265507Probably the age verification bullshit forcing people to log out and go through various bypasses to watch anything, or just stop watching completely.
>>104265594>automated AI responseKWAB
they don't care about you. they care about a number and is it bigger than yesterdays number. get out while you can
>>104265507youtube doesn't really have to display the number they havemy theory is that they don't count viewers that aren't signed in, nor those signed in to a freshly created unvalidated account
>>104265409pam has been around for 3-4 years and shes always had shit ccv and vod views I guess its finally starting to bother her now or maybe it always has
>>104265507Google knows, down to the last byte, how long someone watched a streamThey have very likely changed what they consider a viewer -- and it is only getting harder to prove there is a person on the other end. It may be that they switch to only counting verified accounts as viewers and everyone else as potential bots, because advertisers are getting very tired of serving content to nobody
Time to start doing polls again to figure out how many people are actually watching you.The more things change, the more they stay the same.
>>104265869>4k people>9k votesUh?
>>104266086This was from the last time YT tried to fuck with viewership numbers. It didn't end well.
>>104265640Definitely. That's depressing
>>104265409The only people I see having problems with this are larger chuubas and youtubers that actually have an audience/growth. My barely 3-view oshi has seen 0 change in ccv and that goes for a lot of the smaller channels I watch too. I think these tards just don't understand how bad botting was on YouTube and are thinking that YouTube is actually culling "real" views. Not to say their fans were viewbotting them, but it sucks to see regardless.
>>104266875cope
>>104265581>people who don't chat enough don't count>people who block ads don't count>people putting your stream on the second monitor in an unfocused browser window don't counttwitch is doing the same shit, too, by the way

>>104267228>picSo the meta is to have short streams and end it when you think you hit the "peak" so you don't lose points?
>>104265409Why do they care so much, are they numberfags?
>>104265409google pays per view time of the ads so ccv or views are negligible

Now that youtube CCV is 100% made up, since most viewers are unaccounted for and bots are still rampant, what's the point of /#/?
So how's that EN branch KPI doing lately, Riku-san?
>>104269546Keeping track of the number and the dollar amounts of superchats, since that's not something you can bot without doing tax fraud, money laundering, or other money crimesAlso useful for before and after comparisons of CCV, likes, and subscribers
>>104265594Cool resolution, retard
>>104265594>>104269835
>>104266894It saves responses from people that voted and left. It has literally always been like that. Pewdiepie streamed once with 10-20k CCV and had a poll up with like 200k votes on it and that was years ago
yt should keep slashing the views just so the grifters fuck off.
>there's both rampant botting AND viewculling going on at the same fucking timeClown world. How the fuck do you manage to cull real viewers but NOT bots?
>>104270206You'd be surprised by how little difference there is between both
Restricted mode, turned on by default for some, hides streams/vods even if not demonitized or considered mature content. Possibly doing the same for accounts that haven't passed age verification yet.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGfCrz4LRc0But while Rev's views have dropped like everyone else, his ad revenue has increased. He suspects it's not counting the lurkers not engaging in the content as viewers, but still counts the ads viewed.
>>104270206by culling non chatters while bots spam :kusaemote:
>>104265409YouTube went too far with the changes. There was an actual botting problem. But now the amount of shit you have to do to even have a chance of being counted as a view is ridiculous.
If it's Youtube's fault, then either they're forcing people to stop watching streams, or they're cracking down on bots. Wonder what it could be
>>104265409>doesn’t screenshot the actual post explaining the issue
>>104265409grim
>>104265594Anyone who thinks numbers matter does not like vtubing and also doesn't understand numbers
>>104265507Why are you retarded?
It’s bots, you fuckers seriously expected the bot crackdown to not affect everyone including your precious vchuba?
>>104278276true, first world viewers obviously matter more to youtube because their ad value is infinitely morei wouldnt put it past youtube to just count designated poor people as less viewers because its the advertisers who are the ones who care about viewership to begin with
>>104265507there's some restricted setting that automatically gets turned on for a lot of people which for whatever reason hides like half the vods basically any channel puts out based on guessing about the viewer's age. like age verification part 2 only many people don't even realize it was turned on. you can turn it off manually and by default it was supposed to be off, but for a lot of people YT switch it on by itself. so for random casuals I think this means they won't even know a stream was happening in the first place if they weren't checking some tracker site or somewhere actively discussing it to know it was even live.
>>104279803yeah clearly rando channels like linus techtips were totally botted too, linus needs to prove to his investors how popular his streams are duhhit's reported all around the site that viewership has fucking utterly tanked for every fucking channel. part of it is >>104282258 (me), part of it is verification, and there's probably still more to it we aren't aware of yet. curiously, some people report that even though their VOD views tanked by like 50%, their ad revenue is the same, so people are watching apparently but youtube is fucking with what counts or not, and hard. if you don't "engage" aka aren't liking every stream and commenting, if you just passively lurk when watching stuff, they don't want to count you anymore, it appears. even if you're there and even if you don't block ads (lol).
>>104273714That would invalidate the bait and make the thread pointless
>>104265409there's no war in Ba Sing Se! all numbers are natty if you're Hololive. others are botted.

>>104272667Her watch count tends to be about the same; pretty sure it even grew over a period of months. As others have said, it's probably because Adblocker users no longer count, because everyone is trying to fight Adblocker now since the internet is nearly unusable without it. YouTube (and maybe Twitch too, if applicable,) will probably start pressuring content creators through the Rep Vine to both ask people to stop using Adblockers, and to start using the streaming service's own agents to line up sponsor deals, which will (conveniently) have a more "accurate" way of establishing viewer numbers.
>>104269890Half the fucking audience didn’t leave mid-poll lol
>>104267558No theyre hololive fans
>>104272667no they're altering who actually-counts as a viewer. if you just passively lurk and watching something normally they may not count you as existing. they want people to engage/comment to count so are pressuring the content creators to do more shit to make people like/comment on shit by forcing them to beg for comments to keep their revenue going.why they want comments so fucking much I dunno, probably AI training and ad data.
Kanna... My poor wife
>>104285217She is a cat aunt. She never talked to a male on stream
when i watch a stream now afte 20ish minutes the chat just says "error try again" when i try to send a messageone stream had a poll and there were more votes than viewers
I definitely believe that a portion of the live viewers are not being counted. Whether that would be anyone using adblocker on YouTube, or anyone not signed into an account, remains to be seen. But there's definitely been some fuckery since the AI age-restriction feature was added as the poll votes, live chat and stream likes do not correlate with the number that is shown live.
>>104282314>investorsYou thinks sponsorships aren’t a thing? You think these companies don’t look at numbers and have those people shill their shit?
>>104265409>have discovered that it's Youtube's faultisnt it always
What's honestly funny is how every time an issue is mentioned on twitter the youtube bot is there to pretend anyone cares. It's especially funny when the clanker shows up on threads where people are complaining about getting banned or hacked and being unable to contact a human representative.
>>104265409are they using streamlabs or something instead of youtube superchat? i guess it will be the reason
>>104285217Anon what the fuck are you talking about, Kanna is 100% unicorn-friendly
>>104293812GOOD BECAUSE FUCK YOU
>>104265594>>104265640>umm sweaty maybe you just suck??lol
>>104267228it's just straight up replacing the view metric with a popularity one which isn't supposed to correspond to heads watching your videoor maybe I'm reading the translation wrong, I don't know how bilibili works
Seems completely disingenuous to blame youtube. Reading the thread every time someone questions it the replies talk about how the viewership is actually decreasing but blame it on youtube.CCV is lower because there's less people watching. Period. The reason why there's less people watching can be discussed, but there's no "CCV cull" there's just less people thinking you're worth the trouble.
>>104286930Coco said her youtube stats pointed to the average retention period being 9 seconds back in like early 2021 I think. The since-defunct shorts format CCV buff also pointed to an alarming amount of people passively consuming recommendation slop without any personal curation. People click random shit, watch a few seconds, click the poll, leave. You're greatly overestimating how many viewers are actually engaged regulars.
>>104267228Chinese live streams generally don't list the actual number of viewers. They have a "points" system that involves a bunch of different factors, that's the number in the millions, not actual people.
>>104295492Less people watching is a gradual thing. We're talking 30-50% CCV reduction from one week to another. That isn't natural. Streams having more likes than CCV, polls getting more votes than CCV and general CCV being suddenly severely reduced. All of this started happening at the same time just a few weeks ago.>>104295576Then explain how it only happens during periods of culling, which also seems to be around August yearly.Normally a stream has significantly less likes than CCV. Now it's more.Normally polls are a solid number below CCV. Now it's significantly higher. You can't explain that without accepting that SOMETHING has changed.
>>104295637nah bro every streamer on the platform suddenly losing 30% of the their audience is totally normal. did I tell your I'm retarded btw?
>>104284207>Way to out yourself, HolofagNever claimed to be otherwise. Sorry but I don't know your 3-view niche microceleb amelia watson ripoff oshi, anon. She may be famous in whatever discord server your part of but I don't know or care.
>>104265409Here's the fucking cope again. Vtubing and probably streaming in general is just dying. It's almost time for these whores to start thinking about getting real jobs, or finding a guy to support them because all the passionate fans have been chased away by the twitards.
>>104295492>>104296139Kanna had an average CCV of 500-700 right until last week, a stream like her first Silksong, right after the game came out, should have gotten her to 1k like her MGS Delta or Oblivion first streams did. It's either the algo, the way views are being counted, or both.
>>104265409I don't watch Kanna but I see her stream often recommended to me when she's live, and I'm always surprised by her numbers around 400 CCV. That's quite a lot for an indie no longer with corpo backing, and more so with Youtube culling numbers across the board. On the other hand it's kinda sad to see Pam go back to below 100 CCV sometimes. Some years ago she had relatively poor numbers of around 60 CCV, then she managed to climb to 150 CCV, and now she's often back to 90 CCV. Pippa loves Pam and thinks she's criminally underrated.
>>104265507Google has really ramped up checking if you're actually watching recently. Like if you're afk while the video or stream is playing it will try to detect that.
>>104293980That has no impact, see NijiEN
Shiori is streaming right now, 17 minutes in and she has already more likes than ccv. How much are the numbers culled? I suspect at like -50%
>>104296991Probably even more, since I doubt even halft the viewers remember to like.
numbers don't really matter. it is what you do with the numbers that matter.there are countless 4view twitch vtubers that have have these nice impressive numbers, but all they have to show for it is mythic and gamersups slop.be more than a number. if all you ever were as a vtuber was your numbers, then did you really even live?
>>104297306The vtuber in the OP image is the premier event organiser in the small corpo and indie Youtube space. She just put together a Mario Kart tournament with 70+ participants, cash prizes and a Eurobeat cover.
>>104296991Reminds me of that one time Reine got culled to less than 10% of CCV based on poll alone
>>104297399those are just streams, anon. they don't particularly matter and she knows it. if it mattered at all and she found fulfillment from it, she wouldn't be engaging with YT bot twitter reply chains crying about numbersagain be more than a number. do something more more fulfilling than a stream. host actual tangible events at conventions. do 3d concerts. do panels. make appearances at these cons (more than just being vtuber #57 who is doing a 30 minute m&g at the novel horizons/kawa booth)

>>104295637Yes, it's changing how views are counted, for the better. Background video playing on a second monitor in an unfocused tab SHOULDN'T count. Neither should bots.None of the people actually engaged in the stream and participating in chat are missing from the count.
>>104298214this is an embarrassing level of delusion
>>104296830As it should. None of the CCV changes people can actually point out to are bad things. Embed auto play views like fextralife shit shouldn't count either.
>>104298523Except that's not what's happening, and we can easily see this by looking at the NijiEN graphs. Bots are still getting counted, people not engaging in chat are still getting counted, etc.
>>104298643Then there's more "culling" they need to do. Bots need to go asap.
>>104298670Agreed, I know someone who very obviously bots his twitch channel. When they "cracked down on bots" his views dropped to almost single digits for 2 days and then went back to about 70 to 100. Seems the bots just needed a small tweak.
>>104265409my oshi is kanna-adjacent and her ccv have been growing each month since january, with no sign of a recent cull. maybe youtube is downplaying specific kinds of viewers
