Back at girl scout camp when I was 12, it was the 3rd year back-to-back and two of our friends weren't returning so everyone decided to make special camp spirit necklaces with all the beads of virtue and some charm that represented us. We weren't even as close as these girls are or have been. Just 2 or 3 months it seemed during summers.
