Concerning Hoomans - Household Composition
The average Hooman household is multi-generational, housing children, parents, and at least one grandparent.
Hoomans refer to their young as Hooties and a grandparent is called Hoojisan.
To support their households and community, male and female Hoomans see roughly even levels of employment. Unlike other humanoid races, Hoomans do not nurse their young. This allows the mothers to return to the workforce shortly after their children come about. This leaves any Hoojian in the home as the one responsible for raising the Hooties.
In addition to raising Hooties in their formative years, the Hoojisan is in charge of home upkeep. They often get Hooties involved in cleaning but leave them to watch most cooking endeavors until they've earned their first feather. If a Hoojisan is in poor physical condition (most common case of this being foot issues), the Hooties are much more involved and tend to learn cooking earlier, though they still do not have full responsibility over it.
In the event that a household loses its Hoojisan while it has Hooties who have not yet come of age, arrangements are made either to move the family into a relative's home that has a Hoojisan or for a Hoojisan who has no Hooties to educate to move in and take the previous Hoojisan's place.
There is regional variation in terms of household layout. Some are single-story while others have three floors. In multi-level homes, the Hoojisan's room is typically on the first floor while the parents live on the top floor. As the parents and grandparent are involved in different stages of the children's education, many homes place the children's rooms in between the grandparent's and parents', regardless of layout.
One thing that sees no variation among residential buildings in /who/ is the presence of a well-kept owl house in either the front or back yard. This owl house is checked every morning for signs of an owl's presence and are kept clean with great regularity. An owl leaving a feather in one of these houses is seen as a sign of good luck to the family, and reports of an owl staying in one for longer than a single night become the talk of the town.
__________
While putting this into the Concerning Hoomans rentry, I detoured to change the wording on a couple of pre-existing sentences in it. Hoomans have owl heads, and I have no idea why I initially worded it so vaguely.
I do have the draft for the Hootie's Education section written up, but that and this would be too many characters for a single post so they're getting limited to their own posts. Neither will be anchored, as they're simply getting added to a pre-existing rentry.
>>
>>104892190
Sounds cozy. Seems like cooking is regarded somewhat highly, if it's ideally left to the Hoojisan so preferentially. Reminds me of sushi masters have apprentices just watch them cut the fish until they have like, years of experience hanging out in the kitchen.

I did research on this and it turns out that some crystals/gems can be made within days or even hours. I guess that would explain how the risuners got so many of them in the old world besides magic but anyway, it is possible to do that. There are labs that grow them and emeralds in particular can be grown within months. Cutting them takes a few more months from what I have seen.
>>
https://blog.chatham.com/lab-grown-guides/lab-grown-gemstone-guide/

This is what I was mainly referencing for anyone curious. I will admit this shit is really fucking cool and I just had an autism streak of googling this stuff for a few hours.

Now onto the DND stuff. I have placed /vnug/ where /towa/ used to be on the old map for the players to explore around and I will be placing /awat/ as a neighbor to them since they are close to each other on the current map, I thought it would be fitting. As for the lore to /awat/ I will be just using mostly the lore that the writer came up with. The only thing I would want to change is any technological advancements that would be too high for a standard DND setting.

Hoomans however get a different treatment. I dont know if i mentioned it but earlier in the campaign, the assasin gave the hoomans a fucking bio coded AUG as a present before taking off. I am not sure how long it would take for hoomans to successfully reverse engineer that shit but I feel like hoomans should get away with a bit more due to that alone.

Let me know what you all think and the session will begin in about 7 hours as of this post. If there is any other nation that you guys want me to throw in then feel free to say it and I will mention it to the players. Currently they just made it to /risu/ and they seem to be having fun.

Our final group stage match is against /pcg/ in ~2.5 hours. We're in a pretty good position right now, but we could still end up in the thunderdome if the team starts sitting on their laurels. That being said, a win or draw should guarantee us top of the group and a spot in the knockouts! Be sure to come cheer /vtwbg/ on so they can exit the groups on a high note.

Sorry I'm late anyway DND UPDATE FOR YOU FUCKERS!
The rogue/ranger before we start the game pays the girl for some art commission before the game started so I found that to be interesting. Oh and the cringe fighter guy was back and I honestly didnt think he would come back so I threw his character sheet in the recycle bin but he didnt really need it anyway. He literally just rolled dice when I told him to.
>Entire crew are chilling out in Panrong in Risu
>I try to keep it more open but nobody knows what the fuck to do so I tell them to explore the mines maybe or fight shit in the jungle
>the weird fighter and paladin fight a giant ant while the rest of the party go exploring in the mining tunnels
>they eventually reach an unexplored part of the tunnels which leads into a large cave network
>All this time the girl isnt really doing shit so I bring out GORG THE GIGACHAD AKA a big goliath boy who is pretty neutral when it comes to alignment but very strong. And very dumb. The funny begins here
>Dragonborn rogue played by the shy artist woman peeks in and sees Gorg squish a giant frog, only to be seen.
>OH HEY ITS A LIZARD LADY! HELLO LIZARD LADY!
>She gives no response
>Gorg assumes she didn't hear him so he gets closer, like in your face close "LIZARD LADY? HELLO?
>At this point she starts to back up but Gorg is just being his idiot self and physically grabs her and manhandles her by shaking her. "LIZARD LADY! CAN YOU HEAR GORG!?"
>AND I FUCKING DID IT SHE WAS ACTUALLY LAUGHING AND SMILING INSTEAD OF JUST DISMISSING EVERYTHING I SAY AND DRAWING RANDOM SHIT FEELS FUCKING GOOD MAN!
>Anyway she comments that she "hates this guy" while everyone else seems to like him
>The rogue ranger starts talking to him to divert his attention and he takes him to his man made cave full of looted shit.
>The girl finally decides to be a thief and attempt to steal his half plate armor
>This is literally a 1 way out cave so he sees her and is like HEY THAT GORG ARMOR
>rest of the party attempt to negotiate and he rips himself off (again hes fucking stupid)
>Gorg explains that he kills all the things for fun except for the thing with lots of eyes as they do the weird stuff (magic) and the paladin immediately knows what i am talking about. Nobody else has a clue.
After the session I get to talk with the chick for a little bit and she told me she had fun but absolutely hates Gorg and he deserves to have all his shit stolen which got a good KEK out of me. I offer her a quarter of my kit kat before she leaves

AND THATS ALL FOLKS! BEHOLDER IN THE MINE NEXT TIME ON RISU!
I did tell them about the other nations but they seem happy in Risu for the time being. I also showed them pic related.

Concerning Hoomans - Education
A Hootie's first few years are marked by great amounts of studying and learning. They are often called upon to help their Hoojisan around the house, and the older figures use this as an opportunity to teach them various family customs. As these are grandparent-grandchild interactions, family traditions and recipes have a habit of skipping generations.
Library visits to learn to read and write are frequent, and it is often joked that the average Hootie learns to write full sentences before learning to walk with normal posture. Indeed, any tourist who is referred to visit the local library will find Hoojisan-Hootie pairs poring through documents about any one of various topics including the history of /who/, the approved national outline of the Nameless One's divinity, or a ticker-code learning guide, among many other possibilities.
Though not required, Hoomans are expected to know ticker-code as a point of pride in a civilization that invented its own pseudo-alphabet. If it is learned, it is usually learned at the same time as the usual written script.
Though the library is the most common travel destination in younger years, Hooties often join a grandparent or parent on errands within their hometown to integrate themselves into the local community and to learn to properly socialize with their fellow Hooman. The manner in which they are taught how to conduct themselves in public is largely through trial and error, though their parents are better teachers of this on average than a grandparent; it's so common for a Hoojisan to "correct" a fussy Hootie by buying something for him or her at the local bakery that some have special "spoil the brat" food items for the occasion.
The final thing a Hoojisan teaches their Hootie is how to hunt. Hunting and animal observing are very popular pastimes in /who/, and the inherent "silent watching" aspect of these activities is a behavior encouraged from a young age. Of course, the proper upkeep of the arms used (whether they be firearms or the more rudimentary bow and arrow) is very highly emphasized when the time comes for them to learn.
When a Hootie has earned their first feather, they are deemed to be ready to enter the workforce. They do not seek employment at first, instead their first job experiences consist of extended internships with their parents (individually) at said parent's occupation. An easy way to tell a paid worker from an intern is to take inventory of the number of feathers on the hood or around the neck. If there's only one, that's an intern.
As Hooties are mainly taught their parents' work, it is only natural that they follow in their footsteps in this regard. Thus, the vast majority of jobs in /who/ are hereditary by preference. It is certainly possible for a Hootie born of a taxidermist and a baker to become a cobbler, but it is very rare.
__________
Going into the Concerning Hoomans like the previous lore, but it'll likely be the last major thing I put in there for a while. A good four or five topics have caught my attention these past few days.

Is the lava rhyolitic? If so, maybe you could open an obsidian jewelry market by somehow engineering an obsidian flow and harvesting/mining the volcanic glass.

Hello random Joshu
>>
>>104930508
I don't know what kind of lava we have.
>>
I have some caffeine. Maybe the lava we have in the library is a blend of two igneous stones. We have the lava from the library core and lava from the island. Now we know lava from the island is basalt. The library's lava might be rhyolite. So we have a rhyolite-basalt blend of lava that can be processed into unique stones and geodes.
>>
So we have the explosive high viscous rhyolite filled with sillicates blending in with the slow sticky basalt filled with heavy metals and iron. We're definitly going to have a very unique rock coming out of this lava cleaning. The library being constructed out of an artificial volcano colliding with a natural volcano is certainly a discovery in itself. What a wild ride.

I'm the anon who wrote the Empire of Tsunderia lore a few months ago, and I've been thinking more about the geopolitical history of Viti. I think it could be interesting to have past events that affected multiple nations, such as e.g. a long-running cold war between Holo and Niji nations (though no Niji nations have been placed yet in Viti) or a Brave empire gradually vassalising other nations in the region where /jidf/ is.

I'm open to this. Admittedly I'm more of a recapper of past events than a recounter of current events (and I'm terrible at writing dialogue) so I don't know how much I can personally contribute, but there have definitely been big developments in the vtubing industry that have altered the board and consequently its nations. No active world is truly in stasis; there's always something happening somewhere.
One of the things on my list of things to possibly write is a hypothetical phenomenon of "worship tourism" (an in-world explanation of specific individuals being okay to talk about in one general but taboo in another), and the instance I have lined up as an example of this only came about as the result of what would naturally be a cataclysmic event.
The collapse of vshojo is another good recent example of a development that would affect more than just its nation, and the theological and geopolitical implications of an indie managing to go corpo would make for good writing imo.
>>104977167
Could we reach out to other threads and ask if anyone there is interested in writing here for them?
I don't know if there's a procedure for this sort of thing, but it could be a good way to provide an opening to talk about big world developments and flesh out the map too. Preemptively stating though that I personally have no intentions of approaching non-involved threads to invite them here without prior /vtwbg/ approval of the specific invite to the specified thread and in-thread oversight of a sample of the invite I would send to that thread.

Yeah, it's always nice for worldbuilding to have some kind of ancient history to work off of. I've given some thought to what the history of the phase regions of the easternmost continent could be like, what with it starting off with /pcg/ and eventually splintering into a variety of threads. If you wanna mess around with something like that, I'd be interested in seeing it.

Walking into threads to probe interest has been a bit contentious in our ancient history, but hey I don't think it'd hurt these days, just don't overstay the welcome. Some threads are perfectly welcoming while others are comedically hostile, the contrast can be funny. Some anons have very strong positions on off-topic.

Congrats to WAR for advancing another round in FIC. And don't forget to come watch him and the rest of the team play some divegrass on Saturday against the winner of /awdat/ vs /justice/!

for some odd reason female investigators adapted differently from male ones within recent years to look more appealing to humans, while males seem to keep their more reptilian aspect intact, though when females get older they start looking more reptilian due to their skin getting more wrinkly

I originally wanted to rep for /ehe/ but took a hiatus. between being busy with real life stuff and writer’s block, I only managed to write an abridged history (~800 words) summarising pre-/ehe/ (back when it’s called /aer/) to the late French Ojisan era (mid 2022ish). Also, I’m having a hard time trying to weave the months with barely any threads and the current iteration of /ehe/ into the lore so any suggestions or input would be appreciated
