Putting aside that the chance ANYONE on this board is acquainted with both Japanese and Australian tax law is effectively zero, that is not how things work: income tax is generally based on wages or payments actually earned, not the amount after paying off loans, barring some sort of tax credit that probably doesn't exist in this case.

So, while the debt itself is not taxed, any revenue generated by whatever is making money off that debt is, and if the debt is never paid off at all, and the company never seeks to collect it, then it becomes income that has to be paid or the tax authorities will take action.

You do NOT get a lesser tax burden, only a deferred one, at best, because hiring an accountant to help if the Tax Man takes issue will wipe whatever gains might be gotten from trying to sneak into a lower tax bracket or something.

They aren't 19th century coal miners having to buy food at the company store going deeper in debt every week. Cover is giving out interest free loans to encourage talents to have 3D lives which shows off their 3D studio.
