I think she's one of the smartest vtubers to get her bag doing Holo and dip. Streaming, unless you're a Mori or a Gura (and even then people fall off that you'd never expect to), is not really feasible long-term unless you're very smart with your money. From what I've heard Mumei is pretty far along in higher education while many others aren't going to have a backup plan. They might become a victim of AI. In the next ten to twenty years you'll see a ton of big vtubers both corpo and indie totally fall off when the new blood and new trends take hold. She's also shedding off a segment of her fanbase that is super parasocial and pesky, and not having to deal with creepy old nip businessmen. So if she does decide to return as a hobby it will be way less stressful streaming to patient, understanding old heads. And she's not forced to be terminally online because of her job so she's probably a lot happier these days.There are basically no negatives to her decision. From a fan's perspective, sure I'd love to see her paling around with Promise and the others and getting to perform in front of huge crowds, but she can say got her fill and in the far future she might even be able to do stuff with those girls again in an indie context. She's immortalized as a cute anime girl in Hololive history and now she gets to live a normal life again. Nanashi Mumei won.
