Why is vtuber music such a moneysink?
>>105468153lmao
Disgusting
>>105468153>all this effort to get 100k viewsKEK nijisubhumans are such a lolcow
>>105468153It takes time and effort, usually from adults who are experienced in their fields I don't know anything about the audio side, but graphics are expensive
>>105468153it's like a status symbol
>>105468153Music is expensive. Assuming you're doing the singing, you probably have to pay someone for background music or buy an existing beat, neither of which are cheap. If it's an orisong you're probably paying someone to write it for you, which is probably the cheapest part but still a fair bit of money. If you're doing a cover you'll probably have to pay for the rights to cover the song, which can vary in price but gets more expensive the bigger the artist you're covering. Chuubas are also expected to commission an artist to make art for the cover, which is also very expensive. And God forbid you're getting an actual MV done. It's a lot of money, and the return on investment usually isn't very good either, iirc Marine said it cost something like the equivalent of 10k USD just to do an original song with an animated MV and she doesn't even make that money back from the song.Even if you do all these things yourself, it'd take so much time that you'd effectively still lose money. Why spend a couple hundred-1000ish hours singing, composing, drawing, and editing when you could just stream in that time and mostly likely make way more money.
>>105468153Dunno. It's not like it's a big investment or anything.
>>105469030>Marine said it cost something like the equivalent of 10k USD just to do an original song with an animated MV and she doesn't even make that money back from the song.It can't be helped, if you look at the credits for some of her songs it looks like Marine hired a whole studio for the MVThis is not the norm though
>>105468153Because VTuber music sucks.
>>105469030Wait, $10k? That's the quantity we're talking about, and that's including top-tier animation? That's absolutely nothing, what in the actual fuck? "And she doesn't even make the money back." Someone of Marine's caliber makes like $200,000 per month. Some random niji probably makes $20k a month, and a song without an MV is probably, what, $5k? Why are these people so whiny? Holy christ
>>105468153Music in general doesn’t pay. Fuck just look at Spotify, they pay their artist Pennie’s. This isn’t the old days where internet was almost non existent and people had to buy cassettes/cds to listen to music.
>>105469991>Some random niji probably makes $20k a monthLol no the fuck they don'tHow much do you think your average bottom feeder makes?
>>105468153Deeply embarrassing
>>105468153>make sure your listening habits are like a human'sIncredible self-own.
>>105470562I mean she has put out 3 originals just this year alone and moved to japan along with doing just normal covers.
>>105469030The music itself cost 0.5-2k. It's the AMV that are money sink.
>>105468153All original music is expensive.Unless you make it all yourself
>>105469991Someone like Elira Pendora, a highly successful Niji EN liver, beloved by all, who gets all the merch, all the collabs and everything she ever wants because she's so popular, sometimes earns USD 0.90. If we assume that her cut is 2 % of that, this means she earns 1.8 United States Dollar Cents per stream. And now consider that this is obviously the top dog of Niji EN.
>>105468153ew
All these numbers are so bunk, Marine spends 100k on her mvs and that's a basement level lowballAlso it is dirt cheap to make mvs, you just buy a $5 template and throw art in there
>>105471743Elira release a fully animated song didn’t she and that cover with a 3d vocaloid. She probably makes a lot passively. Maria should be making enough that she could move to Japan and release songs monthly.
the way some vtuber "audio engineers" love ripping each other off is amazing
>>105468153Forget adblockers, forget Pewdiepie and the stupid adpocalypse shit, I still think Kpop (or gay pop, as I'd like to call it) did the most damage to Youtube thanks to these retards inflating view counts
>>105475041Yea, have to be naive to think Marine's MVs only cost $10k.Also, Gura talked about how her rising popularity increased her costs dramatically. Professionals expect top dollar from a star.
>>105468153>like a human'sthis should say everythiong, really, anyway, if you keep making music trying to hit it big and it just doesn't take, for any reason, you're stupid, Pekora for exaple, she understands her songs aren't going anywhere and so she refrains from wasting money unless too much time passes or she gets inspired by somwething trendy she caught, she never makes the right music she should be singing when it's just herself, at most she pleases her fanbase and that's it, she understands she's catering only that group and that she can't reach wider like a Suisei or Mori song would
>>105469991From my vague recollection treasure box cost in its entirety cost waaaaaaay more than 10k. Matsuri talked about music costs years ago and 6-10k is like a minimum for originals and that's certainly not including a well animated amv which pumps the price up considerably.
>>105469991remember that probably people really WANT to be involved in a Marine production and will even make it cheaper to produce as long as they can attach themselves to the project, she's too notorious
There's definitely outliers a plenty but generally vtuber music sucks
>>105478089>remember that probably people really WANT to be involved in a Marine production and will even make it cheaper to produce as long as they can attach themselves to the project, she's too notoriousSadly that's not how these things work.
>>105468153I don't get it. If Phase Connect can release albums of original songs (Lumi, Rie, Runie), why can't Nijisanji do it?
>>105478089The opposite actually, they KNOW she has money to spend on her MVs so they are going wring her for as much as they can.
>>105468153this is just sad
>>105471124>It's the AMV that are money sink. And that's why almost nobody does them and instead go for MVs made out of couple of different static pictures that slide, rotate and zoom in and out.The MVs in the OP are:Clip from 3D stream where the song was unveiled with added overlayed lyrics and random stream clips (cheap as shit)Lyric video with static character images and animated backgrounds, the typical MV most people get (inexpensive)Lyric video with a 4 frame long "animation" (it's just the same image deformed a bit to look like it's moving up and down) (cheap as shit)Lyric video with a single character art that has live2D animation. (cheap as shit)So none of the MVs this thread is about are $10k. I would bet none of them even cross into 4 figure territory.
>>105469030>Marine said it cost something like the equivalent of 10k USD just to do an original song with an animated MVMore like 5 times that number of you are talking about Marine's MV
>>105468153What a scam
>>105468153Making fun of NijiEN asides, making original music is always a money sink unless you do everything yourself
>>105469030my small corpo oshi confirmed this, she's currently waiting for mixing and stuff for her first orisong.
>>105469030>10k USDI don't remember what Marine said but I think you might need to add another 0" (or even two) there. Even one of her "cheaper" MV already cost more than $200K>>105469991>And she doesn't even make the money backWhat she meant was that she doesn't make money back from the songs. Original songs on YT don't really pay that well - very likely not enough to cover Marine's songs' cost.
>>105478474From a brief look at Phase's discography, I assume that was a group album instead of individual's album? None of Phase members seems to have enough original songs for individual album. In OP's case, it looks like an individual EP (or at least a group of 4 original songs), not a group project.
>>105468153Nijibeggars...
>>105468153>Begging to inflate views>>105485430>Begging for empty subsThis is pathetic. I think the better question is why has NijiEN specifically become such a retention-sink that both money and future opportunities are affected.
>>105469030>Marine level animated MV>10kLolLmao even
>>105468153Give me GFE and I'll do it. From the Vtubers who supposedly need it, not some redirect to Scarle
>>105468153Expenses start piling up when you can't do anything yourself.
>>105478014Pekora is management’s pet, she doesn’t need to pay shit. She’ll get another one for free like last time
>>105484984>So none of the MVs this thread is about are $10k. I would bet none of them even cross into 4 figure territory.>>105487925>Even one of her "cheaper" MV already cost more than $200KBoth estimate are retarded. The cost of song itself is 3-5k or really 300-500k yen. Add another 300-500 for musicians and recording. So now you have around 1,000,000 yen as ballpark for the audio itself not counting practice, publication and so on. I don't fucking know what is that in USD because how volatile yen is, but this is a common figure in Idol industry. The animation cost varies. Barely there PPT tier probably cost under 1k, but the top end animation probably cost well over 15k dollar. Upfront cost are kind of important and high level CG usually hurt the wallet the most. You can expect 30k even 50k, I'm not too familiar with this or Hololive AMV.But to think single AMV would cost 200,000 dollar is silly.
>>105494632What's retarded about me saying that this thing cannot cost 1k?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38XFoWlUnxoThe song doesn't cost that much either.
>>105469030>Music is expensive.It really isn't.
>>105468153This is hysterically embarrassing
>>105476721Holos are really that easy to sucker?
>>105468153She should consider leaving Nijisanji.
>>105469790Somewhat related to the restricted music choices imposed by the JP corpos. There's a lot of good music from indies.
>>105478474they arent real albums. they are shitty digital albums anybody can make it is like a slef published ebook that doesnt make you an author. can i go to the store and buy them?
