Even though I love Gigi, I honestly hate that the MV is making me cry this much.

Just remember that she wouldn't release this is it wasn't therapeutic in some way for her. I'm glad she could give some kind of tribute to her dad, and I'm now both regretting some of my comparisons a long while back given Gigimama's general demeanor and what I was posting here about it.

I wonder how long she was planning on dedicating her first original song to her dad. Its ballsy to have your first original song released be both melancholy and so specific.
Its genuinely beautiful though. The song, the animation, the lyrics, everything. You can feel her emotions pouring through it.

As time passes, I honestly believe more and more that having stable, good, loving parents is probably the most important and impactful thing a person can have. It fully shapes who you are, and the trauma of not having that foundation sticks with you for your entire life. It can be eased somewhat through selfcare but never fully.

So it really does make me sad that it seems like the majority of people never grew up with those kinds of conditions, myself included. Funnily enough, the song gave me that sudden brain zap, that urge to be a father. Probably not the best reason, but it comes from a place of wanting to make it right. to be the one who's there, to be a true dad. To be lucky enough to have my own offspring run into my arms and know, no matter what, they have me.

I agree with you. In my case Gigi's song made me thankful for having a good dad, one of the few lights in my life. However due to a lot of other circumstances I've accepted I'll never have peace in this life but I am going to struggle and fight till the end as a monument to everything I love about this world. At the very least I am going out swinging and even though I think we all just disappear forever in the end I still deep down hope something can comb through spacetime, trillions of years in the future and right every wrong, from every crushed insect to every lonesome whale, to every being that wept under our sun.
