This is a myth which is not true in fact, but like other myths, points to a broader, unconscious truth.

No woman would talk and act like a typical vtuber of her own accord; if she did, other women would bully and shun her. Rather, she acts according to the whims of how stunted perverted men think a woman should be, like a marionette. She's not a dude with a voice changer, but on a base symbolic level, she really might as well be.

This is why normalfags, in their dumb primitive way, believe the myth. To them, the act is completely antithetical to how women normally choose to present themselves, such that "dude with a voice changer" makes more sense at first blush. That said, they probably don't understand the potential money involved, or whatever psychological complications could drive a woman to seek this kind of male attention.

Also, people were calling Nyanners a dude with a voice changer back in 2012. I think this makes my point for me.

Anon one of the very first vtubers was a babaniku, which ARE actually dudes with voice changers. People didn't say that about kizuna ai when she was around, but people like that first babaniku and beatmario started popping up in japan and then that phrase took off.

Don't Asian women speak like this in their day-to-day lives? Feels like a fundamental part of their societies

You missed the last sentence.

>no women would appeal to men for money
How would you feel if you didn't have breakfast today?

There actually are tons of them, you can find them if you set the vtuber tag on twitch to sort by views low to high, most of them are troons and furfags

I bet you that, in some peoples' minds, this is more undignified for a woman to do, and more intrinsically perverse, than just straight camwhoring. Such that only a dude with a voice changer would do it.

It's also not difficult at all to tell an actual voice changer.
Any time a normalfag says this of a vtuber who's obviously a real woman, but whose persona is that fakey vtuber persona, that's what I'm talking about.

One of the first vtubers was Kitsune Ojisan which was just a guy talking with guy voice and a loli kitsune model without trying to hide it in any way.
He seems to have retired from the business, unfortunately.

Saba's normal voice is hot. Not sure why she still hides it.

They call it burikko. They at least have the right context for calling it fake.
