They went from being the main characters in a dysfunctional underdog start-up to the backbenchers working for the massive company. The change in direction for HoloEN was famously a very positive one, the graduates from the JP side are either people from the really old days who just miss things being low-stakes or people who were already hired as part of the "new direction" (Chloe, Nodoka, Ao). Kanata is actually the first graduation since Rushia/Coco to fall in the range of not having been there since the early days but being there to witness a "direction change" and none of her problems had to do with a direction change. Her biggest dreams were only just accomplishable this year. If there was a direction change, it benefitted her.
