That's probably what the management were hoping here too - for up to a couple of months after kanata told them she would graduate, they didn't take her seriously. But as she didn't tell anyone else, no one had a chance to talk to her to change her mind about it.
It took 2 months for them to accept that she would indeed be graduating.

To compare this with Coco - she decided to graduate sometime in Feb, and she told everyone. Multiple people tried to get her to change her mind but she didn't. Management finally accepted sometime in early June/late may.
