yea some things were a bit wonky at launch but its bad rep was because they were forced to sell to old gen consoles.

so you take a game that was advertised for computers and new gen hardware and then are forced to scale it down for old gen because thats what most people had at the time, that was "the market" the shareholders wanted quick access to, and you get a the shit show that we got. the game was never bad it just had some rough edges that needed polished.

Also I see this cycle with pretty much any game that bills itself as some "you can do anything" immersive sim, it comes out and there's always this disappointment that it doesn't live up to those big expectations. Usually takes some years after release before people forget about all that and just judge the game better on what it actually is rather than what it promised to be.
