Yo people, what do you think male vtubers are missing (besides a coochie) to attract and retain the public's attention?
>>107670715Don't be ikemen or bishounen
I will answer seriously just this once:They need to appeal to MEN some more and not default to fujoshi bait and performative gay shit for the sake of it. How you attract male viewers is by being GOOD at something, especially competitive games or something like speedrunning but taking it seriously and actually holding a record in the top 5. Other notes:>Male vtuber designs are hard to pull off because men cannot match the visuals of the ikemen model with their voice, even if the voice fits, their attitude does not. Women have an easier time matching their voice with whatever feminine model they get, it's part of the reason they dominate.>Male vtubers should not default to swearing and teenage vocabulary humor as an immature man is gross for everyone, gives off discord kid vibes despite the ikemen model which is just jarring >No one cares about men that can sing well, no more boyband shit unless it's real tryhard 3D dancing or an actual band actually playing good music>SEXPESTING- it would help if 95% of all male vtubers didn't go fucking haywire the second they get SOME form of female attention. You can immediately tell these guys get a boner from a girl saying hi, it's cringe and goes back to that kid behavior. >Again, focus on more niche things like actually being good at games. Video games, card games, whatever. Men like to see other men compete and slowly but surely build up to a total victory. Your male audience are your bantz bros and your bros in general, don't make them feel gay just for being there.>To appeal to women, just don't be a weirdo. Be serious, but still nice. Pander only a little bit to them but don't go all in. >Don't be cynical or ironic, try to be as genuine as possible. Too many men rely on being ironic dipshits as a default online personality.>Loud does not equal funny, you can't get away with it like girls can and men will hate you unless they are also loud, usually teen kids are like thatI can go on but that's all the general weaknesses I've seen. Honestly though? just don't become a male vtuber at this point. Magni, Vesper and nijiEN males fucking ANNIHILATED all hopes of people ever perceiving male vtubers in a good light or giving them a chance. Those did irreparable damage, more than any hater ever could, at least on the EN side of vtubing.
>>107670715To appeal to the male audience, drop the faggy avatar and show your face
Being tolerable, and that goes double for their fans too because their audience is almost always full of fujos and homosexuals. Both of which are mentally ill and hostile towards outsiders
>>107670715the "men" that become male vtubers aren't men they grew up on tranny Tumblr shit and being afraid of toxic masculinity its why only underage braindead fujos or grown ass women with the mentality of an underage braindead fujo. niggers like Vox killed the medium for you so give it up you just aren't wanted. or be like BurntPeanut
male vtubers don't have large anime titties and I can't pretend they're my mommy older sister girlfriend keeping me company so why would i watch themi want a nice feminine voice yapping in the background and to be able to look at the screen and see a cute anime girl while i'm doing other thingswhat good does a male vtuber do me? i'm not gay
The problem is that the homos have already poisoned the well to such a degree that even if you invented the mythical perfect "brotuber" people still wouldn't give him a chance just because he's associated with that cancer of a branch. So the whole discussion is pointless. If there's a timeline out there where that piece of shit Omegatroon never happened, Dumb & Dumber were never hired, Luxiem never brought deranged sociopathic chinkoids into the vtubing fandom, they never had the retarded fucking idea to try to force cross-gender collabs and so on and so on... THEN we can talk about whether or not a male vtuber can even be inherently successful without pandering to fujos and yumejoshi. Because as it stands there is absolutely ZERO evidence of this. It literally has never happened, we basically have no idea if a standard male vtuber doing standard male streamer things (ie. not pandering to womyn) could ever gain a male fandom in the vtubing. I'm sure it's not literally impossible, but it would probably take some stars-aligning, lightning in a bottle-esque momentum to carve out the niche in the first place.
so much melty itt
Just be like the popular JP ones who simply appeal to both dudes and girls.
>>107670715>besides a coochieFuck off tranny this is why they're unpopular because they appeal to you mentally ill pedophiles>>107671046>wall of text just to say you're extremely pickyThis is why they stopped pandering to you oversensitive faggots in the first place. Selling only cups for their merch wasn't profitable. You're way too insecure to buy anything or do anything to actually support them. You also used them as a waiting room until a girl was live. Even when they did pander to you, you still only treated them as secondary. Male vtubers should never bend the knee to you.To answer the question, male vtubers need to actually cater to straight women. You know, the people that are actually attracted to men and make up the majority of the anime boy-loving niche. They need to stop pandering so hard to dykes. They're loud, so that's why they seem like they're the majority. But gays make up a tiny single-digit percent of any population, so otaku are no different. Actually try appealing to the otome/joseimuke crowd that will fall in love with men, not the "oh he's a lesbian to me, he's my pookie wookie babygirl wife" types that will insult your gender day in and day out and also use you a waiting room until their girlboss feminist queen oshi starts who won't even use any female pronouns in voice packs.
>>107671875I think the issue's a step before that, kind of like what >>107671356 saidVtubing's not that old, especially in the west. Those types of dramas will fade with time and people new to the scene will come in, unaware of those thingsThe core issue is that the type of guy who'd make for a successful male vtuber (brotuber or bfetuber) doesn't watch vtubers, so he won't become a vtuber.
>>107672526Yeah you tell them, sister! I'm sure all your begging on Twitter will translate to 4 digit CCV any day now!Aaaaany day now...
>>107670715Literally nothing.I'm not the target audience and that's fine. Both Niji EN and that other male corpo, FPS or something, have shown that the female and faggot audience exists and happily spends money on boy vtubers as they are. They might not even exist for male fans, but that's okay. It doesn't mean that they don't actually don't exist. When you say "the public", you just mean a space like /vt/ which was created to tribalfag the EN branch of some JP corpo which happened to be all female at the time.
I feel like male vtubers need to stand out in a way that they don't feel like "alternate vtubers" but their own thing with their own niche.Right now most of them feel like a side thing. But I understand that it's not easy.>>107671046>>107671118I don't think male vtubers are made for men, that's the point.
I see a lot of people pointing to fujo pandering Luxiem did and stuff like that. But in reality I think it goes back further than that. Hololive being the first thing to catch on popularity in the west set the standard that vtuber = cute moe anime girl who panders to lonely men. If it was Nijisanji that happened to blow up first where there are prominent and successful male and female vtubers that regularly interact the whole perception of the space would be different. The explicit pandering to female fans was a response to the rejection of male vtubers by the majority of western viewers. If the current demographic doesn't care about you why not go after a whole new one that is proven to work in the domestic market
Male vtubers aren't for men and that's okay. You're not the target audience. They do fine in their target audience.>>107674430>successful male and female vtubersFor all intents and purposes, Niji EN is an exclusively male corpo exclusively for women. They got rid of each and every male fan.
>>107675158It seems like you completely missed my point. Before NijiEN was even a thing, before HoloEN was even a thing, the perception of vtubers in the west was that they are moe anime girls who pander to lonely men. Because the western market was like 90%+ hololive fans who got into vtubers through Hololive where thats how things are. If you imagine another world where Nijisanji happened to catch a western audience first, the western communities first exposure to vtubers would have been NijiJP, and the entire impression of what vtubers are and should be would be completely different.
>>107670715I'll be real with you: I don't know. I don't watch them so I cannot say. You could interpret that as missing PR, but vtubers in concept necessarily struggle with PR.
>>107670715the longest attention I gave to the homos are skits from 'Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou' but using the homos 3D model.>Ore no na wa Jack
>>107670715Better models
They need to either fully lean into the male idol idea, including actually behaving when streaming, or not lean into it at all instead of leaning half into it and half into being a "bro"
>>107670715They can't. Men and women are different and have different strengths and weaknesses and different standards and hurdles. For a woman to be a successful streamer (or entertainer in general) she has to be good looking, confident, outgoing, fashionable, and not a retarded autist (among other things), and the vtuber model and kayfabe negates a good chunk of that stuff, so women who would otherwise be unsuccessful have a chance at success, and because of this you can have whole new types of content that otherwise wouldn't have found an audience. Look at Suisei and Watame, denied real idol opportunities repeatedly yet as vtubers they sell out concerts. Look at Miko, Pekora, Fubuki, Korone; considered mediocre at best before vtubing, now looked on as pioneers. The vtuber model can add value for the female. For men, you can be a disgusting balding autistic fucking retard who shits in a bucket and still reach top ten. The vtuber model serves no actual function, other than that there are hiki fujos who are too weeb to watch anything else but not weeb enough to learn Japanese, which is why it attracts the bottom-feeders who couldn't get an audience otherwise. Combine all this with the fact that the audience is overwhelmingly men (both the vtubing audience and the stream-watching audience more generally) and male vtubers will never have a fraction of the popularity as females do. And this would really all be fine and dandy if everyone could just accept this, accept that male vtubers exist to cater to a specific niche and that's fine and they can enjoy themselves in their little bubble, but unfortunately hiki fujos are fucking insane retards who can't help but to squirt their disgusting vaginal fluids over everything they're in close proximity to so we've gotta put up with their fucking horseshit and that alone is enough to make us hate the male vtubers just for facilitating their disgusting existence.
>>107674430I call horseshit. Ironlungs and Vshojo still took off despite Hololive setting the precedent they set. The only difference is cancer girl and vsj collabed more with fleshstreamer men. So even the audience that was fine with (or even enjoyed) male collabing still rejected the male vtubers by-and-large, which indicates it's not just a male issue, but specifically a male vtuber issue.
there is no paying male audience for EN males; corpos with male talents prioritizing female audience is the result not the cause. JP streaming/vtubing history is different: PC game streaming as a whole took off much later (nijiJP males got a big boost from this) and anime aesthetic is more widely accepted, a lot of popular Niconico male streamers used 2D avatars way before the notion of modern l2d vtuber existsheterosexual attraction just makes the most money, even nijiJP that had male watching male audience stopped doing non-bishonen models long ago
