Most of the newer cards are WAY too wordy. Generic beaters and simple "pay this draw cards" is gone. It's all stamped onto permanents now.

Yugioh is a lot different in that most cards are full on engines or answers. Very few cards in MTG function as catch-alls or answers AND engines at the same time. Although just go back in magic's history and look at the random commons and uncommons from a set in 2010 to today's Avatar set. The best thing I could compare it to is early, early YGO when beatdown was just decent. Playing an 1800/1900 was good and swinging was good, but now you play only monsters with abilities.

They changed Aragorn and bunch of other characters to be black. A lot of people blame Magic for the change, but as the license granter it was LotR that had final say in any and all changes. The set also released in between seasons 1 and 2 of the Rings of Power tv series, which had a lot of black characters.
Aragorn in particular has been raceswapped in an adaptation previously, in the animated movie from the 70's.

On the one hand Aragorn, like all kings of Gondor, is a direct decendant of the ruler of Numenor, so it is kinda justifiable to make him look "exotic" because he quite literally has a special heritage.
On the other hand the climax of his story is that he gets crowned king for his deeds although there is nothing outwardly kingly about him. That moment gets a bit cheapened if all kings of Numenor were black and he is one of the only black guys around (same for every other minority in Middle Earth).
As for Dwarves, they can honestly be whatever. They were not created by Eru Ilúvatar but my Aulë/Mahal, who created seven different dwarves along with their wives without knowing how Eru wanted people to look like.
So there are seven different kinds of dwarves and while Tolkien desribes them as short and bearded he doesn't demand them all to be Scottish. One of the dwarven races could look like Papa Smurf and it would still fit their lore.
Elves are the only ones locked in as pale, fair-skinned and white because Tolkien describes them as such several times and afaik all adaptions honor that.
Hobbits can be at least heavily tanned; these lazy bums love to sleep in the sun. But from what I remember even ROP made them pretty white.

Quick Magic info for people that had no idea what the game is:
> attack your opponent with creatures and spells to bring their life points down to 0
> defend from your opponent's creatures with your own
> land cards are free to play, but you can only play one per your turns
> lands produce mana, or magical money points
> spend mana to play other cards and use some card abilities
> as the game goes on, you'll have more lands, = more mana, = bigger/more cards per turn
> mana and cards come in 5 colors. different colors are better at different gameplay stuff
> more colors in your deck = more variety in abilities, but your mana is less reliable. what if you wanna play a red card but you only drew lands that make blue mana?
> creatures attack and defend players
> enchantments and artifacts sit on the table to provide effects
> planeswalkers are like a buddy player on a card with their own spells, protect them or they'll leave you
> sorceries and instants don't hit the table, just do an effect then are immediately discarded
> instants and some card abilities can be played at nearly any time, including on your opponent's turn and in response to other cards/abilities
In addition to the above, they were playing a Commander game, which is a gameplay variant with additional rules:
> pick a legendary creature card to start the game in a VIP waiting area
> can play it from that area without needing to draw it from a shuffled deck
> if your VIP bites it, they go back to the waiting area instead of the discard pile. each time you play your VIP, it costs more.
> your VIP's colors limit what colors you can use in the rest of your deck
