I just Googled Hololive 1 Million subscribers and she was the worse of her gen and even lower than some in the gen after her. She was right at the bottom row of the list.
I don't remember her ever collabing with the popular members or putting any effort in group collabs or group projects.
So I guess pretty much a no-name until she quit outside of a tiny loud-mouthed fanbase.

Her content was content was just boring and never really evolved past doing basic gaming streams 90% of the year, so she had a tougher time drawing in subs than the girls doing karaoke/3D streams/Music stuff

And yet she was one of the more popular members in terms of CCV and merch by 2025. Some members farmed good 100k+ subs with vertical streams, it was a huge bump to sub counts if you did them regularly at the time.

The only one that was quite obviously shadowbanned for sensitive content was Haachama. None of Mel outfits seems particularly against the YouTube rules either, New Year's one especially is pretty conservative.

IIRC Banpire is only riddled with ban before 2021 but I am postulating that the issues with her former manager as well as being not as exciting as members caused her to grow really slow. She, Haachama and Aki suffers from the same fate, being blonde and bland. While Haachama did try to become different and exciting it backfired.

Anyway, my point wasn't solely about Fauna, just pointing out subs alone are a bad indicator of general popularity, especially when you are comparing pretty similar subs counts that could easily be inflated by vertical streams. Then there is time spent in company and other smaller factors.

Ina had success with it too, it was just particular godly for Fauna because got about a year worth of time not having to worry about getting overlapped in it when Ina was on her health break

I agree with that notion however I think it's far more consistent that something like CCV for example

2024 EN top3 was like FWMC - Kiara - Fauna
Total would obviously be Myth (Mori and Kiara) dominated because of how big their SC earnings were early on before merch became more important. Even then I would doubt Gura maintaining top3 since she was away for literal years. Fauna was consistently good with SC, so she would still rank fairly high in total.
