I have a friend who's a Shondo fan relaying most of her situation to me. I want to start by saying that this is an incredibly inaccurate and misleading summary of Shondo's entire situation. She hasn't "broken up" with her community; she's in a position where she needs to prioritize her life outside of streaming. Do you know why? Because her mother's dead, she's taking care of siblings, effectively making her a legal guardian of kids, and she's trying to stay in therapy for all of it.
Shondo cannot possibly handle the emotional weight of all of her fans right now, as she's dealing with all of this. She literally mentioned on stream earlier today that she doesn't even want to be alive. What she needs is support more than anything, not for shitters like you to go around shitting on her, other communities, and GFE as a whole.

She's never been a stable person, I've never been particularly engaged with her, but I know that she's always had massive mental problems. I heavily recommend checking out what she was talking about on her stream today, if anything it's just some interesting insights into the type of shit streamers have to deal with. I think the thing that stuck out the most to me was how much she's heard "You're making me worse", and how much that always hurt her. It makes sense, when your bills rely on acting a certain way and having a certain relationship towards your community, you can't back out of it casually or easily, it's really scary.

As I mention here, how many dozens of times have you guys seen Piwwos mention how they feel like their parasocial attachment to her has made things worse on them. A lot of pretty dedicated Piwwos have even fully pulled away from her because they felt like their attachment to her was fucking with their ability to advance in life. I think it's important to consider how Pillow feels from all of that, it's not like she made some kind of calculated decision to have a really parasocial relationship to her community, it kinda just ended up that way.

My heart honestly just breaks for them. I wish they could learn to adjust and live with the relationship that they chose for themself in the same way that I have. I like to consider myself as one of the dedicated ones, but I also use this as motivation to do better with my own life because she makes me feel like I deserve better. It's sad that others can't handle it and break down. Some have even begun to actively anti her because of it. She's seen this happen a couple of times, and it's broken her heart a few times, but she's a surprisingly tough girl.

As much as we like to cope on here, having a favorite streamer who kinda knows your username and likes your comments on her tweets isn't nearly the same thing as an actual girlfriend you can kiss. If things were slower for her, she probably would have felt like she had to join a corp just to be able to live off her career. Her graph is pretty weirdly shaped. She started with several tens of thousands of subs already from about 3 years of making ASMR audios prior to vtubing. Then, early in her career she also spammed a ton of collabs and got really integrated into the ASMR/GFE vtubing community. Her more recent numbers have dipped down really really low, a good example being her 150k stream where she got less than 1k subs in the span of a whole celebration stream. I think the biggest reason for that is actually intentional, she's mentioned before how she doesn't try to optimize for growth-oriented streams, but instead just wants to spend time with Piwwos.

As weird as it is to think about, the whole Selen situation was not actually that long after she started streaming. The entire last few years of vtubing has been a slow decline of the corps. Unironically right now the most optimal thing to do is join a corp for maybe a few years tops, then leave and take your audience with you, but Pillow could never even consider that.

Pillow has just never had any interest in ever joining a corpo. Hell, she never even considered that this would become a full on job. Making audios all those years ago was just in hopes that she could possibly help somebody out with their own loneliness. Eventually, it became profitable enough for her to move into her first ever apartment, even if it was a cheap tiny one. She started streaming from there, this time in hopes of having fun with a live audience. Her end goal isn’t money, fame, or something shallow like that. As much as I encourage people to still enjoy her without needing to be parasocially attached, mostly because I know how utterly depressing it is for her to know that if she were to suddenly be married or whatever, she'd lose 40% of her audience and 99.9% of her closest supporters, I wouldn't be nearly as engaged with her if I wasn't a yearner. I hate to criticize Pillow, but I think something about her mic settings is making the ear cleaning sound too sharp and rough

her mic settings have been a little wonky for a while now but I mostly listen to the ASMR for the injection of love and happiness into my veins from what she tells us during them and don't get tingles so it doesn't necessarily bother me too much, that said i know some people do wish she fixed them up a bit
