I have a friend who's a Shondo fan relaying most of her situation to me. I want to start by saying that this is an incredibly inaccurate and misleading summary of Shondo's entire situation. She hasn't "broken up" with her community; she's in a position where she needs to prioritize her life outside of streaming. Do you know why? Because her mother's dead, she's taking care of siblings, effectively making her a legal guardian of kids, and she's trying to stay in therapy for all of it.

I think the thing that stuck out the most to me was how much she's heard "You're making me worse", and how much that always hurt her. As I mention here, how many dozens of times have you guys seen Piwwos mention how they feel like their parasocial attachment to her has made things worse on them. My heart honestly just breaks for them. I wish they could learn to adjust and live with the relationship that they chose for themself in the same way that I have. I think the more interesting part of the drama is the reception Shondo is getting. She did the right thing, she had a reasonable conversation with her audience about her decision to put up boundaries, and she's still getting massively attacked over it. I think it's interesting how people basically can't accept any form of off-ramp for GFE girls. I remember worrying in the past that pillow loving us so much and giving her extreme maximum to make us feel loved and appreciated to the most intimate degree could eventually affect her mental health negatively or leave her exhausted, but I came to realization pretty soon that it's in fact the opposite. I don't think she could do vtubing any other way, her character and personality, and 'tism unconsciously makes her a perfect vtuber.

I do think it's interesting how much of a natural she is at it. A ton of girls struggle with motivation, struggle with creativity, all of that, and I think Pillow's special sauce is how she understands her audience. I remember during her 1 year special, she was asked something along the lines of "What is one thing you would want Piwwos to understand about you", and hers was that she really gets it. She understands what it is like to be alone and unwanted and abused and bullied and hated. Her life was so shit before vtubing that she feels this insanely strong drive to help out her audience, which most girls just can't grasp or understand.

Pillow's voice is very different (and not annoying). I don't buy that she sounds exactly like that off-stream, but there's a clear progression from when she started to now; she got more confident and learned to project herself better. Shondo's voice is very clearly put-on.
