there are pros and cons imo. pre covid vtubing is soulful, but their models and stream quality are garbage. current models are so much better to look at. also, it was great back then because it was niche. however niche means not many people are into it, which means they're not getting that much income. as a results so many potent vtubers are forced to stop their activities early. you could argue that it's pretty much still the same now, because despite the huge audience, most of them are stuck on the algorithm monopoly. basically the already famous ones are getting more fame, while newcomers are being hidden from the universe.
