Every once in a while, I’m fascinated by the fact that no matter how hard we try, we seem incapable of designing truly alien vtuber. In most platforms, they either have generic Lovecraftian traits, animal-like features, or they’re just humanoid. And when they don’t look humanoid, you can’t really buy that they somehow developed a society as advanced, or more advanced, than ours.It’s like trying to imagine a new color.

>>108080851The Japanese especially have the approach of "alien" really being "cute girl with little stars or ayy tentacles on her head" because it kind of evokes the look of her just being a normal girl roleplaying one as a chuuni. They don't want an actual ayy character because that isn't a cute/sexy thing.It seems the Japanese don't even see ayys like we do with stereotypes. You would think the "I'm gonna abduct you and make baby hybrids with your DNA and maybe do butt stuff" kind of talk would be amenable to some kind of kinky and/or yandere type girl but to my recollection they have never exploited this. Maybe a couple 2views have but they failed for reasons apart from the theme. Not to mention they can have whatever theme they want but 99% of girls just drop the kayfabe within a day, week or month anyway.

>>108080851because they generally look bad. also humans are wired in such a way that almost all aliens end up being humanoid if the aliens are shows to have society because any of form other then a at least vaguely humanoid one doesn't sit with us as something that we can accept to be functional in producing a society equally or more advanced then ours. SO you end up with either a generic monster that you don't want to accept or just some random skin color altered human with random animalistic parts added on

If you're not instantly cute and inviting to the eye, viewers close the tab before you even have an opportunity to win them over with anything else you have to offer.
