Vtubing for the west is an amalgamation of streamers and anime, it's not really its own thing nor celebrated as its own thing seperate from the two. The fans they have are usually already interested in streaming/streamers in general or were deep in the anime rabbit whole and stumbled on them because if their popularity in Japan. It's why the fanbase in EN is so miniscule compared to the anine fanbase as a whole or the vtuber fanbase of Japan. The only EN Holo who will not suffer constant failure and declining sales and viewership are the ones who try to scoop up some attention from casual JP viewers.
