What's going on with baseball in the US? I'm seeing a lot of buzz on the internet. Explain it to a European. Have the Dodgers become a kind of Manchester City/PSG?
>>108650049The Dodgers are based in Los Angeles, which is one of the richest cities on the planet with all the shit that is based there. The Dodgers have more money to spend than nearly everyone except maybe the teams in New York. Also most people hate them for buying their way to the top and for being faggots. So they try to get new fans to come in by appealing to vtuber watchers.
>>108650103It's not just the amount of money they're spending, it's the fact that they're deferring contracts so they can effectively spend even more than their already ludicrously massive payroll

>>108650049Canadians and flyovers are mad because they are too poor to attract good playersMan City is a good comparison - well run team, very deep pockets, ring-chasers who go there just to win.PSG is not because the Uber Eats league is a 1-team league and not even remotely competitive
>>108650049A good team (on paper at least) who also the 2x defending champions of their league have now signed a free agent who's a top 5-10-ish player in the sport This has predictable caused a lot of outrage amongst fans of other teams
>>108650049You can buy players in baseball and because Dodgers are rolling in money they can afford the best players so the other teams are claiming that they are paying their way to victory

Depends what you meanIf why Hololive would choose to work with the Dodgers? Because they're in LA and a majority of the stuff Cover does in the US is with companies based out of LA or companies in LA. You'll also get a sparse bit on the east coast too. Plus Ohtani being a huge success for the Dodgers actually brought in Jap tourists to the US to watch some baseball, so there might be a small crossover of baseball fans and Holo fans.If you mean why the Dodgers win all the time? They have a lot of money to spend, and unlike Football where there's a hard cap on spending (which they're usually middle of the road or worse) or Basketball where there's a soft cap (can spend more but just costs more, they are pretty good there), baseball is a free-for-all of spending. That's not to downplay their ability to pick players who will gel from the cream of the crop, but you're there to make money and win as a pro sports player, and if the Dodgers want you, it's one of the best options for both worlds. They do very little AAA farming unlike some of the other teams who do well picking up newbies and training them to be scooped up by the Dodgers if they're good enough. It's why you'll almost always see the Dodgers at the world series along with the Yankees.
