The game was also originally written to be a TV series, but was converted to a game later. So all the traces of railroading you towards romancing Invisigal are still there, even if you do your best to kick her out. And you have to be *very proactive* in your effort of saying, "No, can we keep this professional?" which comes out as basically, "I also hate you and want you off the team."

Yeah, you can end the game not romancing her and still not have her bad end, but the Venn Diagram is almost a circle, to the point where most blind playthroughs are unlikely to have this outcome without explicit effort.
