Anyone else here using vtubers to learn Japanese?Which vtubers are good for that?
>>108868208I keep saying I'll start and haven't. There's a thread on /jp/ for this
>>108868208No, I need to find someplace that writes the words out in English. I can not understand their 3 Alphabets and need to pray just speaking it gets me far enough to get laid
>>108868208Learning Japanese from anime style talking I do Not recommend. You'll sound like an anime school girl to the Japanese when you go to Japan.
>>108868218>There's a thread on /jp/ for thisYou mean /djt/? That place is actually a cesspool of ban-evading and spamming schizos and drama. I am not exaggerating.
>>108868208Having lots of exposure to a language you're trying to learn is a good thing, but I'd still wager learning the basics would be better from proper sources.
>>108868723I already know the basics, I just need vocabs.
>>108868284I should learn by singing Creepy Nuts lyrics
Here with nice playlistshttps://www.youtube.com/@MizukiMeido/featured
>>108868208>Anyone else here using vtubers to learn Japanese?Yes>Which vtubers are good for that? The one you like
>>108869064I like Pillowdear but the only Japaneese word she seems to know is "nande?"
>>108869091The implication here is that it's a japanese vtuber.
Vtubers are good if you plan to never learn the language. If you actually do want to teach yourself Japanese, go read grammar books, get multiple anki decks, use a translator software to read manga and to play voiced games in Japanese.
depends on how well you can comprehend them. if it's not like LEGITIMATELY fairly well you aren't going to be picking up vocab just from watching. kanade speaks like the slowest so might be one of the better ones to learn from but also vtuber vocab ranges insanely and some streams are very speech light or just repetitive speech and then others will be a mile a minute complex speech you have no chance with. just not very efficient use of your time for learning imo. unless there is some absolutely perfect vtuber that is consistent level that you also like.
>>108868208Okayu helped me a lot, her voice is very clear (and nice)
>>108868208>Which vtubers are good for that? The one that you enjoy watching the most.
>>108868294Seems educational
Watching content will only help you with practice once you've acquired the grammar and vocabulary via textbooks, study apps, etc.But once you're there, I recommend finding JP content with JP subtitles. I really enjoyed the latest travel vlog that Ruka and Hinata releasedhttps://youtu.be/WvfBgw5rJY0
>>108868208Honestly which ones you watch doesn't really matter, just find ones with voices or models you like since you won't understand them at first. What I do is use Duolingo to learn, while listening to a vtuber in the background. You're going to learn all the common words at first so the vtuber is definitely going to use them at some point. It helps a lot to be able to hear a native speaker use words you just learned, and hear them use them in different contexts. You're not going to just be able to learn Japanese by listening to them, but it can help consolidate what you've learned. Just like anything, it's all a grind and the harder your brain has to work to learn something the faster it will learn it.
I don't think it matters that much, watching gaming streams is a bit pointless though because the commentary is often too short and repetitive to be useful. Personally I just tuned into some zatsudan stream and started to check the dictionary whenever I heard a new word.
>>108868208my oshi did this but she watches mostly miko
>>108868208Let me be the one serious reply to you anon:Learn Japanese, but dont learn it from vtubers. You are going to sound like a faggot. This is not a joke. There are too many heterosexual men that speak japanese, that sound like absolute faggots. Because they take on the mannerisms and speech patterns of women. Just fucking learn Japanese the normal way.
>>108868255There are 2 Alphabets you filthy casual. Kanji isnt an Alphabet.
>>108868284Pretty much this, find podcasts or streams with Japanese men speaking for the bulk of your immersion listening
>>108868284 but i AM an anime schoolgirl
>>108868208Watching lots of JP vtubers definitely improves listening skills but if you don't lay a solid foundation of vocabulary and grammar the only thing you'll end up doing is learning the skill of recognizing whether someone speaks Japanese or not, like you're a CS undergrad's first speech recognition AI project.
>>108868208I used Taso...
>>108868208Luna. The slow baby voice is actually pretty useful to differentiate some words from others.
>>108868284happens to expats who mainly talk to their wife too, they start talking like a gay man because they only learned woman JP
>>108879352Very good choice.
