It's interesting Peo has a habit or subconsciously pronouncing English loan words in the Japanese style. For instance salad is pronounced sarada in Japanese, and she often says it like that when speaking. But if she reads the word salad in chat she pronounces it correctly in English.

There's a medley (like three bean salad), there's a casserole which can sometimes be mistaken for a pasta salad, and there's the fruit cocktail, or fruit salad. I'm sure it's nowhere near as simple as you're making it out to sound in your less than polished post.
