People care but its not about schizos harassing talents on twitter, that's a tiny minority.
Most fans who dislike it just stop watching or slowly drift away when male collabs happen because it's not the content they want. For a lot of people it's probably not even a conscious choice.
The fact that pretty much all of the top tier talent in any of the branches doesn't do them is a good indicator of their impact, with the obvious exception being Suisei occasionally but she's pretty unique.

For 90% of female vtubers in general it's a dumbass move to do male vtuber collabs, just from a commercial perspective, you had better have a really good reason to make it worth it. A lot of your core fans will be put off so that unhinged collab with Machina X Flayon or whatever had better be your deepest held heart's desire.
