Kind of? I feel like you can be critical of someone who's content you consume regularly. The only difference is there's no real place like this (a place that won't just ban dissent) in small doses. I really didn't watch many streamers before vtubing but it's comparable to youtubers who'd release content semi-regularily. Easiest example I can think of where you could actually see what you see on this board that I personally interacted with was when the 'End of the Year' game shit would come out for Giant Bomb, there'd be threads allowed on /v/ for just a few days about it and Giant Bomb as a whole. The state of those threads got worse every year from 2016-2019 with the cataclysmic event of hiring a woman who gave zero shits about anything but being a mouthpiece for tumblr and twitter on the set. The threads went from being pretty positive to absolutely shittalking the state of Giant Bomb as a whole
I guess the bottom line is that having the mentality of the OP's pic is just plain stupid, and to expect the one place on the wider internet to not have fans (and a massive amount of antis) not airing their negative opinions is kinda stupid.
