The day she sent in the MV was the final day of NijiFes, so NijiEN management was busy tending to the EN livers who were in Japan participating in the event. They said they needed more time to check, not that it was rejected and can never ever be released. Selen could have easy just tweeted out "Sorry guys, the cover release is going to be delayed due to management being slow to check", but instead of blaming management, she defied management and released it anyway.

The problem with that idea is that their job was still to manage the production of the girls' projects and keep informed throughout the process. They knew the expected release date, the storyboards, etc. for over a year (it was designed and advertised for a christmas release since the start), and they also should've understood the consequences of missing an important window either through delays or by removing a video afterwards.

Picrel is a random MV she put out last month. No corpo backing or branchmates to promote it. Took around 2 months to make from start to finish. Broke into the algorithm and is still going pretty strong considering she is NOT a music-focused channel.
Last month she got a skin released in Apex Legends, no corporate strings required, complete with an official collaborative plush as merch.
A few weeks back PUBG worked with her to put HER name on the first promotional event for their new game.
Her official VoidJP PS5 controller just shipped globally and she's in talks for multiple variations for Xbox versions, etc. due to the excessive sales numbers.
Her second batch of nendoroids just shipped and have been arriving all throughout the US.
Yet another new plush variant entered pre-orders.
As of a few days ago, she now has an official itasha car that'll be making appearances at cons throughout the US.

Chuubas who're happy enough just doing the occasional outfit reveal or MV are perfectly suited to the more hands-off, low-effort management style of Niji. A delay or two won't really matter as much if the MV is the only thing they're working on that year.
Selen/Doki who both was constantly working on projects AND was able to form/utilize connections to get them done faster than niji staff was an outlier in this instance and really should be treated as such.
