>Streamer tries Let's Playing for the first time
>It's some of the best content she has ever produced
Let's face it, streaming video games is objectively inferior to recording a playthrough.
Not having chat to distract you 24/7 helps out SO MUCH with immersing with the actual game.

Watching this playthrough genuinely feels like she is a new and better person.

I'm sorry your oshi doesn't interact with you in chat, anon.

There is a middle ground here. It's a fine line and mostly male streamers can pull it off
>>
>>109958489
I've seen females manage too in one of two ways.
1- Ignore chat
Leaving superchats for the end, maybe only looking at akasupas.
2- Just be really good at their job
Both at being able to check chat without it hampering the gameplay much, and also cultivating a community that aren't shitters.

I am an avid watcher of Pikasprey (a pngtuber).
He used to do traditional Let's Plays but switched to being live-stream exclusive.

Live-streaming only comes with downsides, no upsides.
- Streamer berating chat
- Streamer answering to retarded chatters
- Streamer thanking chatters for donations
- Streamer asks chat for advice 24/7
- No post-editing (or at least heavily disincentivized post-editing)

And now, the worst of all: A shift in mindset and culture.
Pikasprey used to be grumpy and a straitman to annoying shit he exposed himself to in vidya.
Being exposed to a live audience started enabling him to be much softer and integrate cringy running themes like using his teddiursa OC to communicate moods to chat.

In a Let's Play, streamers are left alone with their own thoughts with no way of developing them through an external medium.
Your oshi is the purest in that state where she's forced to fill dead air without a crutch.

Kizuna Ai did videos instead of streams so it's kinda weird how everyone just went full streamer mode when the inspiration for this whole thing didn't

>>109959007
but she also made videos

hell you notice how vtubers don't even do edited streams? they just dump the VOD on you.
>>
>>109959007
Not in the beginning.
She had skits, then spun off a LP channel and then started streaming, and not regularily at first
>>
>>109959054
you try editing a long stream right after a stream is done.
>>
>>109959175
they have editors do it for them
>>
>>109959198
not all of them.
>>
>>109958432
This has been known since long before vtubers. Back in the day Pewdiepie sensibly did his Undertale playthrough offstream and just uploaded the VODs when he was done, perhaps he was smart enough to realize his chat would have been very annoying the whole time. And to this day it's still some of his best content.

For singleplayer games, a let's play is always superior. But some things work well as streams like Holo JP minecraft collabs. Interestingly, the fact that they're collabs and they ignore chat is probably what makes them so good. Honestly reading chat is a mistake. But the worst thing is when they respond to donation messages. I recently looked for Monster Train 2 streams (they're kinda rare) and found Jelly did a run so decided I'd give her a chance but some big donation totally derailed the stream and she was like groveling and thanking the guy for probably 10 minutes. Super annoying. Also chat often derailed the stream making her rant about random stuff I didn't care about. Fortunately I can skip ahead in the vods but if I had watched something like that live I'd have closed out of it and never come back. One thing I appreciate with Holos is they read the donations at the end when they're already done with the game. I think a lot of women just have no appreciation for the games they play and think that they're the center of attention or something. But the reality is that people want to see the game they like being played and will come back to watch you play other games if you do a good job. Jelly did not, and I wont be coming back. I use her as an example but there are many women who do the same thing that I never bothered watching anymore. Long rant here but whatever.

it can't be that good if you didn't link it.
>>
>>109958432
Chat and mods are the reason why I can’t watch Pat’s streams nowadays.
>>
I wish more big vtubers would do 1-off Let's Plays, because it lets us see how they handle going from fast 4view chats (which some of them have grown accustomed to having for years) to suddenly a 0view chat. Interesting to see how they fill in dead air without having a chat to bounce off of, or if the way they act changes since nobody is watching them live, stuff like that.
>>
>>109959500
Pat was always a shit solo personality, he was a fantastic straight man in collabs.
Since he doesn't do those anymore he's worthless.
>>
who the fuck is Pat?
>>
>>109960360
Patrick Boivin.
>>
>>109958432
For me it's not the same at all and I genuinely can barely even enjoy it
>>
>>109959707
People who have 4view chats may as well have 0view because the chat's going so fast you have no time to read anything anyway before it's pushed off the screen.

It's not really what people want to watch though. Think about how much effort goes into editing a good Let's Play compared to just a normal stream. Yet her normal streams have a higher viewcount on the VODs than her Portal Let's Plays do.

Pat at gaming
>>
>>109958432
And the funniest thing is that this too is all Niji's fault.
>>
I live stream my let's plays because it's just easier to do. You turn off the stream when you're done and thats it.
I started using YouTube because of let's play videos but most things have already been done. Nobody would want to watch the exact same content someone else did with a different voice right? Right?
>>109959707
Then again sometimes I wonder...
>>
>>109958928
the early skit (non-gameplay) videos where she just stood in the void were also just like
not that good
>>
>>109960695
ohhhhh! Like PAD at gaming. Okay, I get it now
>>
>>109958432
Humans crave interaction, so livestreams are a natural progression of the medium.
>>
>>109958432
Women only should do karaoke and yapping, leave gaming to men
>>
>>109958432
Don't really care about that. I can play games myself if I want to be immersed. Streaming is for interaction and participation. I don't doubt a recorded playthrough is much better, but at this point I'll just play the game myself if I want a pure reaction unspoiled by anything. Why would I live it through someone else?

>I'll just play the game myself if I want a pure reaction unspoiled by anything. Why would I live it through someone else?
Because you already lived through it yourself and you want to see someone else live through it too.
>>
>>109958432
I think this is a much better format for puzzle or choice based games. Every single streamers playthrough of any Telltale game or similar would be infinitely better without chat being whiny little bitches about them making the "wrong" choices constantly.
Plus it's smart and pretty low effort to prerecord stuff like this to cover any hiatus

It uses a completely different skillset and you can do a lot more planning and editing to make the product good. They're obviously going to be a lot better than edited down stream clips, but it won't deliver a stream experience.
>>
>>109964662
Eh, don't get the appeal. I don't watch vtubers for reactions.
