you've started from sort of a faulty premise: vtubers aren't that connected to anime otaku culture in Japan, they're more part of general streamer culture. the anime connection is more of an overseas trait.

but I'm also annoyed by high-pitched voices in anime sometimes. seiyuu work also involves more than just pitch. inflection, et cetera.
