Tourist here, can you anons explain why people give money to vtubers who already have hundreds of millions in the bank? I understand buying products but donating? That I can't understand, imagine giving money to someone on the cover of Forbes.
>>110171710same reason people give money to streamers. It gives themselves a tiny amount of attention when the vtuber reads it out. Also they generally don't have hundreds of millions. No vtuber is big enough for that yet. Hell, the number of millionaires (USD) is likely in the tens at most, and of them most were millionaires beforehand.
>>110171710Rich people in general always get a ton of shit for free. The richer you are, the more free stuff you get.
>>110171710If you ever stop giving money to them they'll retire forever
>>110171710Do you even give tips to your waitress? Do you ever give money to street performers or public entertainers? It's like that, but digitally. You let them know what they're doing in entertaining or that they service they're providing is good. It is that simple.
People give money to billionaires and they aren't even cute anime girls.
>>110171945True but if you use Robinhood and buy options there's a chance you'll make money>>110171935NoNever>>110171808Susei does, hence the post>>110171905I genuinely didn't realise it but this is probably the best answer, close the thread.
>>110172060>Susei does, hence the postI doubt it. Even in her case, 100m is extremely unlikely. She's relatively big but she's no Taylor Swift or whatever. She seems a lot bigger than she is since you're probably more used to western singers making ridiculous bank, but it doesn't really translate to a Japanese vtuber that doesn't even fully own her own IP. Similarly, there's pretty much nobody on her level. Some could argue Kuzuha, but considering how Nijisanji pays their vtubers I doubt he keeps the lion's share of his own revenue. Also Suisei doesn't really take donations. She turned off superchats so the only way to give her money is to purchase merch directly.
>>110171710Most of the stuff they make comes from their own pocket and if you have any idea of animated song production you know that shit cost major money
>>110171710Because >we like vtubers
>>110171710You just happened to pick the least ideal chuuba for your shitpost since suisei disabled superchat donations for about two years now.
>>110171710Hang on, isn’t the Forbes 30 Under 30 list basically a good predictor of who’s going to jail in a few years?
>>110176026You thought the axe murderer thing was a joke?
>>110171710For attention mostly. It also funds projects since talents have to pay out of pocket for shit like MVs.
>>110172328That just means she makes more from merch
>>110171710Most people don't donate because they want to support the streamer. They just want the attention.
>>110180634That's sad
>>110171710Giving money to people entertaining you is almost an instinct
>>110171710>unironically paying for a forbes 30 spotWeird thing to do ngl.
>>110181296they choose you, retard.
toss a coin to your vtuber
suisei is fucking ugly
generational talent
>>110171710Ive donated what in the span of 5 years what would count as a month income for meI did it in order to show my devotion to my oshi
>>110181059For cattle, yes
>>110184284oh, sorry alpha male
>>110171710why do people do the same with other celebreties
>>110184313No they don't
>>110171710>Tourist here, can you anons explain why people give money to vtubers who already have hundreds of millions in the bank? Some people are simply retarded.
>>110175695Why? Why did she do that? And why would cover allow that it's just less money for them overall.
>>110186585She's not even the only holo to do that.
>>110171710Apparently people like it when you read their messages, so big streamers allow you to donate money so they would read your message.
>>110171710When you're rich people wanna give you their money, it's that simple.
>>110171710i've been with my baby since long before she was richshe gave me my smile back, it's the least i can do
>>110171710Why do you give money to a fat fuck who already has millions in the bank
>>110171710Lamest Holo, talent is measured by how good they make her songs, even other Holos have better and more iconic songs, she doesnt give a fuck about streaming which makes her completely irrelevant in any of the major events
>>110188184mad
>>110171710>vtubers who already have hundreds of millions in the bank?LOL who the fuck told you this? most chuubas get paid peanuts and get fucked on taxes. I know for a fact that I probably earn more than 90% since only a scant few can just drop 10 grand on a new model out of the blue.
>>110181370no, forbes is pay to play.>>110176026which is how you get this. scammers buy spots to boost their credibility.
>>110171710Why do people buy games from huge corpos, why do people watch movies from hollywood, why do people keep shopping at walmart? Because they enjoy doing so, and enjoy what they are given.
I personally can't bring myself to donate money for "norhing".I'm a greedy ass person and always want something in return for my money.
>>110171808Fpbp
>>110171935You tip the waitress because they make below minimun you retard, do you not see how stupid you look begging for the attention of a rich person throwing them money?
>>110188736>Buying a product is the same as giving money away to someone who is rich, doesn't care about you, does not know you, and will not remember your username.>All just to be out of the fleshmob, the vtuber see as their fans for one second
>>110190241peoples attention is a product, its why ads exist, and why live service exists, the attention economy.
>>110188417Merch sales>ModelWhy are they that expensive again? It's not rocketscience
>>110190481That wasn't my point, but do you seriously think people can shit out good rigging in a few minutes? Legit corp paid models are well in excess of 10 grand, Your average indie is lucky if they can get a good one for 5k. >MerchVery few Chuuba's get big enough to warrant merch sales. Its why Makeship, and other companies require at least 200 people signing up beforehand, to even start production. Even then the cut they take out leaves very little over. You really have to be on the upper end of 30k+ twitch followers where a third of that are paid subs to even consider making it a full time job, and even then a lot of chuubas are working another job.
