Nah in this case it opened a lot more playstyles and player freedom. Druids had to be neutral, that's no longer a requirement so you can now play a chaotic evil druid if you so desire. Monks had to be lawful, no longer the case, you can be a chaotic neutral drunken brawler monk if you want to. Paladins had to be lawful good etc. A lot of those restrictions were removed so people could play how they wanted (you could and people often did houserule that shit anyway)

Racials were a very old holdover from outdated design ideas where even many classes were strictly tied to races, like the Wizard was always an Elf, that sort of thing. It was stupid that you had to houserule or juryrig something just to roleplay something that'd be very normal for an "adventurer" character, being an odd-one out. A dwarf that's more intelligent than wise, or some such, but then being held back because dwarf was just a terrible race choice for an int based class.

No idea how conservative retards made it all about politics somehow, but those drama tards always find a way.

Your DMs were free to apply whatever bonuses they wanted, so it's not even like these things were set in stone (I suppose they still aren't), however the difference is that now officially, the lore is DEAD. Races are not seen as collective identities or part of larger groups with historical ties. Every city has to be as racially diverse as possible in new DnD. There are no longer underground mines or dwarven cities because they disfavor homogeneous populations in new lore. Every DnD city now has to resemble New York or London to comply with the goals of real world globalism that the entryist faggot liberals associate with IRL. Races are no longer recognizable mechanisms to convey specific trait advantages or communicate to players what solutions might be advantageous. Encountering a troupe of Orc highwaymen now means nothing, because now these Orcs might just be traveling accountants or drag queens instead.
Their design philosophy has been ruined and decades of game design, community lore, and world building has been destroyed.
