They insert themselves into any topic regardless if they have anything to add.

As a new chatter I found the unfiltered retarded dialogue comforting because that's what I was missing for a number of years. It's fine when it comes from the right place when idea is separated from the person but it's very clear that some people enjoy the latter a lot more. As a longtime chatter my stance on that hasn't really changed except that now when it gets too retarded I just zone out. Being a know it all is completely fine, I know lots of people take issue with someone having the confidence of unduly challenging preconceptions but it depends how they carry themselves. Sometimes a know it all is more concerned with putting others down and shift the framing to paint themselves in a more positive light rather than taking the L and accept you're confidently wrong about a lot of things.

At a baseline level you have to allow more voices in and not use your seniority alone as a qualifier if you want an influx of new people. The most long-term harm you can do to yourself is not document your mission statement and expect everything to fall into place on its own because that's the only time you get mileage out of gatekeeping. As soon as you forget why you became successful and what you tried to accomplish you will inevitably be run into the ground by people whose only interest is maintaining their position in the hierarchy. The only way to deal with these people is to increase their responsibilities (and expectations) until you figure out what makes them tick and why they're there. For the most part when they're seen they will either lash out or escape.
