All of those things are studied by designers. There are lots of types of designers as well. Her site had work that's imo typical of an architectural designer (not to mention Revit is used for that).
You can look at the course requirements for any architectural design program and you'll see they're completely different from engineering. https://uwaterloo.ca/academic-calendar/undergraduate-studies/catalog#/programs/SklSyJRRoh

It's strange how bad she is at recursion and graph theory. The Engineering Masters I've ran into are math geniuses compared to all the CS people even though it might take a few seconds longer to understand the problem. From the way she described the US system of being babied in the programs maybe it doesn't reinforce the same pedantic memorization, just being able to call in sick and have your exam moved is pretty lol to me.

I've taught math courses and when grading the engineers are just as dumb if not dumber than the comp sci students especially when it comes to discrete shit. That said, recursion and graph theory are still baby math and anyone who went through an engineering, comp sci, or math program should be able to do that shit in their sleep.

Clio's story actually tracks. She says she was an adjunct prof, which may sound impressive to non-academics but every academic knows that's minimum wage slave work where you never know if you'll have a job next semester or what your hours will be like. So her story is more about getting out of a shitty situation and landing in Phase with a more high paying job where she can choose when she works and where she lives.

There's a small subset of (algorithmic) graph theory that CS people study which is boring because it's algorithmic.
Combinatorics, geometric group theory and finite group algebra are untouched by them, with few exceptions that are mostly pure-math oriented anyways like automatic groups or formal languages.
CS students mostly study linear algebra and real analysis since that's what is usually applied to use in computer problems

Yes and no.
A discrete math course is commonly used as an "intro to proofs" course for most math programs in university, so all math students have to take it. This course will generally be a brief overview of combinatorics, graph theory, and some basic number theory proofs about modular arithmetic, divisibility, GCD/LCF, euclidean algorithm, and so on (but not getting into number theory or ring theory in general).
Discrete math as a whole is a much larger field with many subfields and mathematics programs will often offer additional courses (including at the graduate level) that specialize on those topics. There are many mathematicians doing research within these sub-fields.
Speaking generally, the models of computation used in computer science formalize computable functions as functions from the natural numbers to the natural numbers. Every binary string is just a natural number and graduate level computability textbooks go into detail about how to encode everything (including functions) as natural numbers. So, in a manner of speaking, comp sci is a sub-field of discrete math.
Speaking more pragmatically, computer science students will often take the discrete math course for math students or they'll have their own equivalent course in their own department. Many discrete math topics are of particular interest to many computer science students. Cryptography exists at the overlap of various discrete math fields as well as discrete areas of other topics (such as algebra). Many problems in comp sci are studied in terms of graph theory so much so that directed acyclic graphs (DAG) are probably used more in comp sci than in math. There are also many comp sci structures and problems that are formulated as graphs (with additional structure) that are only studied in comp sci, including automata, bayes nets, POMDPs, red-black trees, the sat problem to name a few. Recurrence relations are used a lot in comp sci but they're actually from combinatorics (though much of combinatorics isn't studied in math). There's also specialized topics like computational geometry that use a lot of discrete geometry and exist at the intersection of math and computer science.
>>110530052
Geometric group theory is still a pretty new field, most math students don't touch it either and the vast majority of math students can't even draw a Cayley diagram or reason about it to save their life.
There are other fields studied by computer scientists like category theory and type theory and such as well. Arguably, the computer scientists are studying a purer form of category theory than most mathematicians these days since mathematicians are typically interested in specific types of categories of interest to a specific field (like algebraists who only care about Abelian categories, grothendieck topos, and such, but not about things like monoidal categories, dagger categories, elementary topos, and so on).

Universities offer Software Engineering degrees as "how to code monkey" degrees.
Comp sci is supposed to be the abstract theoretical side of things for people who want to research in the field (investigating what's possible, how fast it's possible, and developing new abstract structures). Unfortunately, for whatever reason, the public thinks that comp sci degrees are "how to get job" and "how to make video game" degrees and people sign up for them en masse, so the programs have added a ton of courses that don't belong in the degree (i.e. they should be certification courses or something) and structured their programs in retarded ways. As a result, comp sci programs are so bloated nowadays and let students specialize in so many different unrelated subjects that we now have a situation where if you choose two people with comp sci degrees at random then those two people will likely know completely different shit due to having completely different specializations. So employers who see "comp sci degree" on your resume have no idea what the fuck you actually know.
They should split it up into several programs.

It's completely different courses. SE has courses on how to work with huge codebases, programming design patterns, shit like agile development, and so on. You can't do compiler construction without understanding formal languages because different types of languages require different types of parsers, you also need to understand how functions/variables/pointers are stored in memory so you can implement stack machine shit. You also can't do ASM -> Microcode without understanding how processors work. You might be able to do some of Kernel/OS stuff (handwaving away some of the processor stuff) but it's a really involved topic involving super specialized knowledge like CPU scheduling and understanding how processes are stored in memory and so on that's not useful in general software engineering.

I would never trust a parser from someone who doesn't understand formal language theory. In the best case, a flawed parser will just have corner cases that crash the parser due to ambiguities or that cause it to loop or something, in the worst case a flawed parser means that someone can feed it some specially crafted input and compromise your whole system.

Anon, if you don't even understand the difference between LL and LR parsers then you don't understand parsing at all. Not every language can be parsed by every grammar. There are many grammars that cannot be parsed by any of these and that have to be converted in some way. Take a look at this, for example:
https://people.montefiore.uliege.be/geurts/Cours/compil/2011/03-syntaxanalysis-2.pdf
There are also other problems to consider, like if the language is too powerful and you don't write your parser well then you can make it possible to create a weird machine.

Recursive descent parsers are extremely simple and easy to debug but they only work for LL(k) grammars. See the diagram in >>110530796
Sometimes you have grammars that can be converted to LL(k) but not always. The LR grammars are more complex (and harder to debug) but more powerful. Sometimes you have no choice but to use an LR parser if you want to parse a certain language correctly. See https://stackoverflow.com/a/8811523

PHP is LALR(1). C++ can't be parsed by either LL(k) or LR(k) because it has so much ambiguous bullshit, so you have to use additional hacks or something more powerful like GLR (that can handle non-deterministic and ambiguous grammars).
I've written an LALR parser for a research language that couldn't be converted to LL, it's more common than you think. There's a reason all those LR tools exist on that wiki page.
>Injecting it into the running program, not the parsing phase of a compiler
That's not as bad as being able to inject code into your compiled code.

you're going by strict classifications of parsers when literally every language is parsed using recursive descent with something extra sprinkled in for the parts it can't handle

The reason I mentioned the research language is because it's a new language, not some old one.
Moreover, just like you there are retards who don't understand formal language theory and are writing programming languages and protocols. Those sometimes don't even end up being context-free (for the record, C++ is context-sensitive). It's actually really easy to accidentally make a protocol context-sensitive and examples of this exist in the wild (protocols that have variable length fields sometimes do this, for example). You never know what sort of bullshit you'll have to parse in the real-world.
It is actually easier to make a GLR parser for C++ using some generator than to handwrite a recursive descent parser with context-sensitive features, but the benefit to doing it the other way is that you can plug it into the rest of your recursive descent infrastructure and do diagnostics and error recovery shit easier.
I'm not saying there is anything wrong with LL or recursive descent. Given the choice, it is preferable to design your language to be LL and to use a recursive descent parser because it's easier. I'm just saying you don't always have that choice irl.

I don't remember which stream it was in but when fans suggested the idea she seemed confused about how she'd do it as well. If I remember correctly she was asking fans if they wanted her to just record herself running a mile outside. I think some suggested a headcam or something but I feel like Bibi wouldn't have something like that.
Who knows though, she's super creative so I'm sure she'll figure out something.

If tests were so flawless then we wouldn't live in a world of dumb endless bugs and exploits. There's a massive difference between verifying that something is correct with absolute certainty as opposed to running a test to check every corner case you can think of and convincing yourself you've thought of everything.
>>110532070
I'm formally trained in both fields.
>>
>>110532077
>If tests were so flawless
They aren't. They're just "good enough". But a parser is a parser. It's the second easiest problem to solve in a compiler. You don't need to fucking prove it works, actually you probably don't even need to test it at all. I've been on a language about half the complexity of C++ for the last 5 years or so and there aren't even any tests for the parser - it's only 2000 lines of code, and if anything doesn't work it's immediately obvious. The idea that parsing is something that needs to be formalized is just hilariously out of touch
>>
>>110532098
You're wrong. A parser is your first line of defense against malicious input. This is what LangSec is all about.
>>
>>110532139
I can't imagine how hard you'd need to fuck up for "malicious input" to make its way through a parser

>>
>>110532230
Correct, but they use them in a different way
If a compiler has a security vunerability it has nothing to do with the parser, because it's the second stage in a 5-10 stage process, and there's nothing about the way programming languages are parsed that would allow any form of malicious input through
99% of security vunerabilities come from the last stages where you're generating output like assembly
