Is there any hope for indie male vtubing in 2026? How do you even grow an audience when people hate you on principle and many of your peers will just assume you're a groomer either a straight one or a gay one? I went and did research on a lot of the people I watch. They debut to 50 people after vtweeting for a month in 2020. I get treated pretty cruely when I've raided into people. I raided into a girl and she made a big show of saying she'll follow me only to (i assume) realize I'm male after checking me out offline and silently unfollowing me and cutting all contact. I don't get treated better by guys either. I raided into a guy with around 15 viewers and he was nice and shouted me out and talkative. Later i had a slower guerilla stream and raided with around 5 viewers and he didn't acknowledge me at all and basically treated me like I was dead. This is someone who has similar audience numbers to me not some huge guy either. Its all been rather discouraging and this thread has been a total mess for over 3 years now so I can't even really find new advice or discuss it with others anonymously. I got inspired by JPMales, I wish western male vtubing wasn't such a poisoned well.
