What can you tell me about your vtuber streamer moderator experience, anons? Why are 20% of all vtubers' mods just outright opaque and deranged about enforcement? Pic is not mine, but I've noticed some mods will make up rules not listed on the streaming channel or discord, and then ban people without warning.

Any stories/explanations?

Most moderators are bad people, sometimes by perceived necessity of their position, sometimes because a 12 year old got moderator permissions and is trying to referee a conversation between two 45 year olds.
If its a good moderators you'll never hear anything about them or probably notice them. If its a bad one your only recourse is to publicly shame them most of the time.
I think Coco had bad actors get mod perms and they banned more than half of her audience because they could. I don't think they ever got any real world problems over that. 100s of real people pranked by a random China man with no recourse.
The second a moderator starts getting opinions on a channel I'd remove them immediately.
Remove spam. Remove stuff that violates your platforms terms of service. Any more than that and your mod needs to fuck off.

I don't think think the audience is made of angels, but what causes mods to drop any and all leadership/management skills? I don't assume they're experienced moderators, but most vtubers do something resembling vetting, right?

>what causes mods to drop any and all leadership/management skills?
Having to take a really big shit.
>>
>>110782739
mods are all groomers and/or autistic powertrippers
my oshis head moderator is a guy who has been modding for her for like 6+ years now and is like 40 years old
>>
>>110782739
>Erm did you just fucking give my vtuber kitten money?
>That's no good, you need to heckin stop that
>>
>>110783893
>mods are all groomers and/or autistic powertrippers
If AI mods start getting implemented in streams en masse, but the quality is based on previous moderation practices, will the AI be a powertripper, or a groomer.
>>
>>110783525
>most vtubers do something resembling vetting, right?
No, anyone with enough sense to be trusted as a mod has too much of a life to be watching vtubers let alone being involved enough in a streamer's community to be trusted as a mod.
They pick people vaguely based on seniority (being there for a long while) and vibe (aren't obviously a complete schizo or retard). It could be someone's retardation is only triggered when they become a mod and now feel they have more authority and influence than the role permits.
>>
>>110782739
All unpaid mods, with the exception of oomfs that show up randomly or that lurk, are cancer. The mind of a person to do this for free is one that wishes to drive the community, stream and streamer in a direction they want. Simple as.
>>
>>110782739
This is even a problem for big streamers, let alone 2 views being groomed on Discord. Some Holo mods are pretty overbearing too.

That's for the best, but vtubers (unless guided/owned by management/corpos) have a great degree of responsibility for the choice of moderators and ownership moderator behavior. If a vtuber doesn't prune or correct bad mods, that is their leadership failing. If it is a corpo vtuber, that indicates either bad actors or an organizational cultural failing. In any event, I will not be watching a given vtuber if the mod's behaviors interfere with the experience such as in the ways you have outlined.

I don't watch hololive. Any examples?
>>

Even a semi serious site like this one can't get decent unbiased moderation, what makes you think a chuuba (that just tells her bf or an extremely obsessed but low T member of her audience) can get one?
>>
No sane people will moderate a chat for free. Too bad there are a bunch of nutcases ready to do it for free if given the opportunity. Just ask the question, why would anyone donate their time acting like a glorified hallway monitor in a chat and not expect to get anything out of it?
Whether its powertripping, delusions, ulterior motives, attention whoring or legit mental illness, they are scum

This must be more of an issue on twitch, because my 4view youtube-only oshi doesn't have an active chat moderator. In the rare event she gets a spammer bot in chat, she just bans them herself.

I modded for EIEN because I liked some of their talents at the time and had moderation experience in a commercial context. Team was full of attention seeking 3rd world retards. The personalities of many there were exactly as you imagine them, quick to reply to talents they like, otherwise virtually absent. Borderline catty. Procedures were all over the place. No central knowledge base, not even an attempt at one, had to make my own from 3 power point presentations, 27 channels and threads and the talent's message history. Talents had a channel to sick us on people or bring up moderation topics. Picrel, Mirri being insecure about everything, as always.

>why would anyone donate their time acting like a glorified hallway monitor in a chat and not expect to get anything out of it?
I would do it for the same reason that I clean my house: to have a clean place to hang out.
Trouble is, I fully recognize that I'm an asshole, my standards for 'clean' are higher than the general population so I would be a bad choice to mod.
>>
>>110785599
I've modded for several 24/7 streams on twitch and the only time I ever do anything is ban bots when they show up or break up the very rare autism beam battle in chat by just telling them to calm down.
Although given people are there to watch a show, and not a person, there's no risk of tiering who gets attention which is a problem with vtubers.
>>
>>110782739
I quietly stopped supporting my former kamioshi of over a year because of multiple factors, but probably the biggest one was because she had a moderator who I couldn’t stand that would be annoying on Twitter and act like an arrogant attention seeker making an entrance in her chat. That was just the final nail in the coffin for me. I’m not really bitter about it or anything, but there are other girls who won’t disappoint me the way she did, like having an annoying unbearable moderator.
>>
>>110782739
there was this one complete faggot that modded for multiple people called skellegion, he was such an annoying faggot that one of the people he moderated for just removed all mods and now does it herself because it was making her chat a worse place
>>
>>110782739
i support power tripping groomer mods
they ruin the career of vtubers that are stupid enough to give mod persmissions to their simps
most head mods will be boyfriends of the vtubers tho
>>
>>110785599
>not expect to get anything out of it?
The purpose is to drive away your romantic competition and increase your own romantic value. Mods actually fool themselves they have a chance and their actions are dictacted by an alternative reality in which they are crusader knights fighting off their enemies for the good name of their milady.

>>
>>110782739
I hear stories about mods and streamers themselves just exhibiting bad behavior. Like alot of passive aggressiveness or looking to overly moderate. Let's also not forget those who do all of the above, but also don't even follow their own rules.
I've been told to avoid the streamers from the retro thread and in general ones who are "no spoilers/backseating" due to them banning for no reason.

99.9% of vtubers don't need moderators.
Of the ones that do, having fellow vtubers/streamers as moderators is more than sufficient.
Despite this fact for some reason lots of small indies (female) have multiple mods. They're not even dating them so I just don't understand.

>>

Indeed. Mods barely have any work to do. Almost none
Vtubers are just rewarding them for being paypigs and fueling their delusions of having chance at sex
