Holostars did have issues with long term growth (and with most Hololive fans being indifferent to HoloPro unity) but management made several bad financial decisions which made the situation worse. HoloEarth will be bleeding money for years and investors were likely in a foul mood about why Yagoo was still throwing money at Holostars. I am surprised that Cover made all the budget cuts at once but I guess that is better than rolling the cuts out gradually which is more demoralizing to employees. Also for some reason Cover likes to announce bad news in April which is when they threw out the Gura, Mumei, and Shion graduations. I still remember the Mumei rant when she was angry with management for rushing out her graduation date and for not letting her use the 3D studio for her graduation live. Cover only cares about the talents in terms of merch sales and they have made that really obvious in 2025 and 2026.

Cover being so concerned about increasing revenue that Yagoo made huge budget cuts to Holostars goes along with the outfitschizo theory that contract disputes do get extremely heated. Model redesigns are nearly impossible to get because they can affect Hololive merch sales but even letting Holostars use the Cover studio for their 3D lives was obviously a debate that was going on behind the scenes. There are many disputes that fans will never know about which are completely hidden because of the NDA. 2025 was already evidence for that with 7 graduations (with several talents specifically saying they left because of disagreements with management) but in 2026 Cover has now announced something that would have been considered a delusional unicorn rrat even 2 years ago. I am not shocked that Cover had to make budget cuts since they burned a lot of money on HoloEarth but it's notable that Yagoo cares enough about investor complaints that he agreed to these cuts.
