The only Tales game I've played is Tales of Vesperia because everyone spoke of it like it was one of the best ones. The gameplay was awful though and I had to drop it even though I liked the characters.

But you can also take advantage of this by stocking up on cheap weapons early on, then selling them once the war starts to get rich instantly. I can't think of any other JRPG that does this.
