I actually just stumbled across and read through the SC and BW manuals a few days ago. I hadn't really fully understood the Terran lore before and it was really neat. I will now watch your girl. The BW manual is shit though.

>>111233300It's a lot shorter and it feels like they put a lot less effort in.The example that sticks out to me is the unit descriptions, e.g. the original manual goes into the origins of the various Zerg species and how they were adapted by the spine-parasite-monsters to fit the swarm, covering things like how the Mutalisk and the Guardian are related and why the former can morph into the latter, all from the perspective of Terran researchers trying to figure out what the hell is suddenly attacking them. The BW manual basically just describes how the units play; the Devourer description doesn't even try to justify how it's related to the Mutalisk, for example.
