Near the beginning of it there is a phone like you'd normally use to save, handy so you don't need to repeat the boss fights while figuring out the gimmicks and puzzle of the escape. However the phone doesn't work and using it will let the boss catch up with and kill you.

I am normally a "bosses are tests of what you know and skill in the game so far" so if the final boss pulls off an instadeath chase out of no where and it isn't something that has come up before I don't think it's great game design. It is a bit more excusable in horror or horror adjacent games like Parasite Eve or perhaps a platformer game where you navigate a level to a boss, beat it and then need to remember and navigate in reverse back out now duress of the chase's time limit. But even in something like horror, instant death can be counterproductive because if you don't know what you're doing you'll die repeatedly until it becomes more annoying than scary. Especially annoying in a scenario such as this where you gotta repeat the previous boss fights that you already did each time where you aren't really getting anything out of it for challenge anymore.
