Heya, done a bit of data scraping and here are the approximate numbers of vtubers globally since the dawn of time across all platforms (Except twitter - Vtwitters dont count)

Total number of unique vtubers to date : 42,000 (50,000 if you count subchannels of repeated vtubers)
CONTENT BASED ATTRITION RATE
Total % of vtubers who will upload / stream more than twice: 60%
Total % of vtubers who will upload / stream more than 10 times: 25%
Total active vtubers (last 4 months) : 23%

TIME BASED ATTRITION RATE
69% gives up between the first 1- 4 months
81% gives up between the 1 - 2 years
92% gives up before they hit the 3 years mark

Can you post this data? It seems a bit low. I'd imagine the number who give up before 3 years to be much higher than just 92%

>69%
heh

Was going to put 67 had to resist

This is done by getting clankers to scrape sites like streamcharts, youtube and twitch. It's in fact pretty high into the 1st - 2nd year where 81% have already quitted

Also forgot to mention, sites like hololist etc will have graduation date listed. While hololist holds only 7k entries it's concrete sign that it's a graduation + debut to graduation will also be available for calculation

possible its accurate, though depends what you call given up, like one stream/video every 2 months just as a hobby or something can be seen as given up depending on the person but its technically content being made.

What criteria did you use to determine which channels are vtubers? Do pngtubers qualify?
>>
>>111383083
If they have vtuber mentioned it is counted, for png tubers it will highly depend on how their profile is set up. A specialized version of Gemini used by Youtube so even if they don't have a vtuber tag, from checking the content Youtube's special version Gemini would pick them out quite well.

This is not a surprise considering graduated Holomems STILL tops the youtube top earning charts years after graduation so they would be tracked by youtube as a separate category.

Burntpeanut etc would not be counted, he does not refer to himself as a vtuber and normally lacks such tags on the contents. Even if some were counted by accident there wouldn't be too many.

Also forgot to add in one thing, Total active 23% naturally does not match with the 92% give up because majority of those 23% are in different times of their lifecycle. We do not know if they will call it quits in the next few months or keep going for 5 years. Hence it's naturally higher, there's only 10 years of significant vtuber histories and most came in 2022-2024 so that number would obviously change in the next 12 months or so.

50k doesn't sound like a lot but if you had to shake 50 people's hands it wouldn't be small at all.
