what is officially the biggest YAB in vtuber history?
>>
probably the implosion of Vshojo
>>
Selen Shock and it's honestly not even close
>>
>>111626025
Rushia marriage to mafumafu
>>
>>111626097
nah.
at the end of the day, NIJIEN still exists and they have lived on.
Ironmouse quitting Vshojo literally killed the #2 en corpo in 48 hours
>>
>>111626124
nobody gives a fuck about vshojo and grifterrat's video didn't "cause" the collapse
>>
>>111626124

>>

>>
>>111626219
compared to NIJI where there was really no collapse at all. it is still around and streamers still streaming. even hiring a new gen right now. there was pratcially no fallout from Selen being fired compared to what happened when mouse blew the whistle on Vshojo. Vshojo went from the #2 agency on a Monday to being out of business by Thursday
>>
>>111626025
Rushia incident(s). For a lot of people that just brings up a lot of bad memories.

>>
>>111626310
Saying there was no collapse at all is really selling it short. The branch still exists but it's a husk of what it used to be, and its decline is easily verifiable that it began due to the selen debacle.
>>
>>111626097
I would narrow it down more specifically the black screen stream.
Before then, the majority of people thought the fault rested solely on management.
When the black screen stream started, people thought it was going to be Elira, Vox, and Ike speaking on behalf of the talents to soft rebuke management and that management has assured them they'll do better.
But no, it was them trying to drag Selen through the mud and the entire agency lost trust in their fans overnight.
The ironic thing is that Riku's dogeza right after that was actually a pretty decent corpo apology.

Not a cuckling, but Nimi's LLD isn't even comparable to what's happened with VShojo, Niji, Holo, etc. VShojo ceased to exist, NijiEN declined hard in viewership afterwards and talents lost sponsor deals, Hololive killed an entire branch, but Nimi's doing fine even after her LLD. A bunch of faggots crying on /here/ isn't even close to Doki attempting suicide or Coco leaving the company.

>>
>>111626025
In the English speaking side, Vshojo imploding or Gura quitting

In the Japanese side, probably Hololive abusing artists, the China bullshit or Rushia getting fired

This creature. Along with the fact she was doing marriage related merch at the time along with a "promise ring" for the parasocial fans she cultivated. Her ex-fans literally went out and vandalized shit in public that had her advertised on it. I can't say other yabs lead to shit like that..

dont get it twisted nijisanji did suffer, but it did not break.
ultimately, their punishment was dropping from #2 to #3 as a corpo
vshojo started a week #2 and by the end of the week didnt exist anymore

>>
A comparable one in west was Yuko Yurei's activities being exposed and forcing her to begin from 0 (she even lost her fans as Rye)
>>
>>111626310
If there was no collapse at all, how was Vshojo the #2 EN agency?
>>
>>111631371
Not them but I'd argue that they did a good job making themselves look bigger/etc than they actually were. Before it all fell apart, it wasn't a crazy notion
>>
Is it me or has Ironmouse lost her invincibility to criticism/etc since VShojo went down, likely because without it, she moved to other more disiive ventures
>>
>>111631486
Vshojo jumping to second place had nothing to do with anything they were doing, and everything to do with Nijisanji shooting themselves in the foot repeatedly until they were functionally out of the race.
>>
>>111631588
eh, Vshojo had a lot of momentum when they got Henya and NijiEN was kinda stagnent

There was that one Japanese Vtuber who ripped her fingernail off on stream because her company wouldn’t let her stream insanely long hours. I’m pretty sure that is the biggest YAB.

Nimi only lost two thirds of her live audience and her sub growth went from 4-6k a week to 1-0k. I think to most shocking fact was that it was with Randon. But that isn't common knowledge yet, so the damage is somewhat mitigated

>>111639042
She didn't. Both "she didn't survive it (the black screen)" and "she didn't make the CEO dogeza"

She didn't survive it. It's the most-viewed video on her channel, and the most heavily disliked video, and the last anything she did on her channel for 60 days. It killed her channel in the algorithm, and she's been losing subs nonstop since then (I think she's lost something like 100k subs from then until now)

And she didn't make Riku apologize for anything. He apologized only to the shareholders, and only for the negligible paper; but did it on the Niji EN official channel, in English and with English subtitles, specifically so that the shareholders would think he was apologizing to the EN fans for firing Selen and/or for the black screen. There's also the issue that the suit think that the western fans are morally obligated to uncritically accept his grossly insincere "apology" solely because he's of a higher societal "rank" than the fans.
>>
>>111647662
>she didn't survive

>>
>>111626025
Either Rushia's crashout or the NijiEN black screen stream.
I'd say the Vshojo implosion but honestly it basically changed absolutely nothing other than the company itself going under and Ironmouse no longer getting spammed on every news article about vtubers.

>>111637089
this is japan we're talking about.

>>
>>111626025
in terms of company repercussions, I think Vshojo's immediate implosion was the craziest. It destroyed the company in under a week.

For lasting effects, it's probably the holocaust due to it beginning the incredibly annoying practice of waiting for perms
>>
depends how we are measuring the yab size. i think the most significant perspectives are the viewer's, and then from a business perspective. here's the first yabs that came to my mind with some analysis

>the holocaust
removed some variety from hololive's content and forced the company to grow their legal department massively. but one could argue those changes were inevitable, and that the "yab" was down to mio having to stop streaming for a while. the long-term effects of this aren't that significant.
>coco / haachama / taiwan
immediately resulted in two talents getting suspended and 6 others fired. the company also cut business ties with one of their largest partners and temporarily ended all business with an entire nation for several years. was a major factor in company reforms that lead to several other talents leaving later on, though one could argue those changes were inevitable with how much the company was growing.
>rushia
one popular talent ended up fired. the company lost a very high earner.
>various compounding luxiem yabs
nobody mentioned this one yet but luxiem shrank from top-tier popularity to small-corpo tier in a short period of time, but it was due to several different things. debatable if it can be counted as a single yab.
>selen shock / black screen stream
the whole event caused a massive lost of viewer goodwill that cannot be understated. every talent in the branch became significantly smaller overnight, one was fired obviously, multiple other talents ended up graduating over it, and the company lost sponsorships and a significant amount of revenue that has yet to recover years later.
>vshojo
the company immediately died, the talents lost a bunch of money, the executives are probably going to end up in some trouble, but there doesn't seem to have been any effect on the viewers.

looking at both perspectives, it seems clear the main contenders for biggest yab are taiwan and the black screen. both were significant events for both their companies and the viewers. and out of the two, i think it's clear that the niji yab was far more significant. my reasoning is that we are now two years post-black screen stream, and niji en is still struggling massively. if we compare that to hololive 2 years after the taiwan yab, that would be 2022, and at that point the company had grown to be larger than it was during the time of the yab.
>>
>>111626025
Any answer except Nintenogate/Holocaust is wrong.
People don’t realize it started when a certain company made a backroom deal with Nintendo for streaming permissions, and that basically kicked off everything that followed.
It literally pushed the entire industry into a worse position. They gave up all their leverage to game developers for a short-term advantage over competitors.
Now we live in a world where nobody can openly criticize the games they stream.
The Rushia situation can still be considered significant, though on a smaller scale, since it basically destroyed the superchat + GFE market overnight. But by that point, the scene was already dying anyway.
Those insignificant Western dramas had no real impact on the industry’s direction in any meaningful way. If anything, they just showed how unprofitable those scenes really are.

>>
>>111653144
perms autism means that they are a week or two late to hop on fotm indie game trends. i would argue that's pretty minor. they always get perms for big game releases.
>>
>>111626025
the capcom vodpocalypse was the vtuber equivalent of the burning of the library of alexandria. unless someone at cover decides to unprivate everything, it's years of lost media because of retarded jap bureaucracy.
