What's the deal with girls who don't give two shits about idol culture all wanting to have concerts?

Are they that lucrative?
>>
you’re living in the past dude, nobody gives a shit about idol culture anymore. and for the record, i wish more chuubas actually did care about it
>>
If they were lucrative saba would already have had flown to the US to have hers
>>
>>111626949
But that'd require effort
>>
>>111626725
VSPO too and I would say HoloFes makes enough to get others eyeing it
>>
Singing your favorite songs on a stage in front of a bunch of people every once in a while is fun even if your carreer doesn't revolve around that kind of performances
>>
>>111626725
Because they won't adoring fans. It's not that they don't give a shit about idol culture, it's that they don't want to be beholden to their fans and only receive support
>>
>>111627270
You have to admit it's weird for Nimi and all the phase talents with bfs to want to reap the rewards of being worshiped on a stage without giving fan service
>>
>>111627513
Lots of singers and musicians do concerts without also doing fan service or never dating the opposite sex.

Sponsored concerts and their own concerts are great, it's a shame not many holos get to do them
>>
>>111627623
They actually have talent though. All these girls sing cutesy anime songs or idol ones. The whole appeal is on supporting your waifu
>>
>>Literally every phase talent
Lia, Hime, Shiina, and I think Airi seem to like idols tho
>>
>>111627739
You're too far gone mate.
>>
>>111626725
Nope, but they can at least pretend they're being idols
>>
?
>>

>Are they that lucrative?
>>111627513
>reap the rewards
Can this board think of anything else than cuckshit, money and numbers for 5 minutes? Every catalog thread ever boils down to just that.
>>
>>111629731
I doubt that
>>
>>111627623
This is the most dishonest thing about anti idol culture people: it is 100% common practice for people to lie about being single when they are in a band or an actor unless they are getting old or are dating another celebrity for the drama..
>>
>>111626725
Because they want the money and fame at the end of the day it’s not overly complex.
>>
>>111626725
they want people to pay attention to their singing
but not actually do the whole grind of the idol occupation
>>
Idols are only a niche part of music culture as a whole.
>>
>>111626725
Performing is fun without catering to the mentally ill idol fags

Most of the people listed in the OP don't even sing Japanese songs at concerts, except in rare cases, let alone anime or idol songs

incredibly tone-deaf post + image combo

True alissa white-gluz of arch enemy isn't doing wife asmr hitting me up for hundreds of dollars every month on patreon larping as my wife during gaming streams and shilling me cheap ass merch made in china that's the difference between a real artist and these girls
>>
Surprise, OP, music and concerts aren't just about idols or idol culture
>>
>>111640055
Although Mint is of course a fan of idol culture she would also tell you the same thing and give you your medication.
>>
>>111640082
I don't think she would tell anyone anything in particular

it's just obvious there's actual otaku culture appreciators on one hand and ENwhore grifters who are not doing it properly, while still stealing the culture, on the other
>>
>>111640278
do you think it's possible that they just want to sing and dance for their fans without it needing to be Thing: Japan?

When I was a kid all the girls practiced song and dance routines they saw from Britney Spears and shit, it's just normal girl stuff man

Western vtubers have figured out that they can have their cake and eat it too when it comes to idol culture.

They want you to support them like they're an idol by buying merch, concert tickets, shilling for them, donating etc. but they'll also tell you they're not an idol and that they don't like idol culture. They train their audience into never criticising anything they do and always being positive, because the only good parasocial interactions are the ones that help their career.

You'll never see a vtuber who rails against idol culture and unicorns say they'd be happy if their audience viewed them as just another entertainer and not as their oshi.

he's not wrong
>holoEN
the industry leader. in general they lead the rest follow if they can, and especially after Breaking Dimensions, 3d concerts really caught on in EN
>Mint
look at most of the big indie concerts, and who is there? Mint. She has been pushing idol concerts and is one of the most influential indies out there. Minto has done so much work in bringing idol stuff to the west since 2024 and you dont see the explosion of lives outside of holo without her. She dragged all of her friends into it, too.
>Emi/Mariya
another Mint girl, and she used her position in v4m to get them to do concerts and get them at cons. the v4m concerts were kind of white noise and didnt gain much traction, but she is responsible for Fantastic Reality which was a hit
>Lia
like it or not, Phase has some position as an EN industry setter and if they are doing stuff, others want to as well especially on the small corpo level. She is pretty much the face of Phase 3D and helped get it off the ground and that ANYC concert (with you guessed it: Mint) changed the trajectory of that company and caused them to go full steam with 3d concerts at cons etc

the point is vtubing is very much a "girl sees girls do cool stuff; now I wanna do cool stuff" thing, and those are the players who are mostly responsible for the meta changing. and I am not saying they were the first to do 3d concerts cause v4m, kawaii etc were doing them before but nobody really cared it did not lead to industry meta changing like we have seen since 2024 when the above pushed it over the top

>mint and her friends change EN vtubing to now everything is 3d idol slop and how many concerts you are doing
I guess this was her endgame
>>
>>111643423
it is kinda funny
>nijien: her friend pomu joins in hope of getting 3d idol support one day
>vshojo: she joins in hopes for them to support 3d idol projects
>holoen: her friend kiara has done a lot of work popularizing 3d idol stuff to the west
>phase: her friend lia is the face of their 3d idol division
>brave group: her friend kou was their face of their 3d idol projects + fantastic reality
>kawaii: her friend isla was their best idol and a focus of their 3d idol projects
>doki: her dear friend who is responsible for helping several indie 3d concerts happen
>bonus - ashton: her friend who is responsible for being oshispark's patient 0. if no oshispark, that is a lot of 3d concerts that never happen for indies
the mad lads really puppet mastered the idol wave

>Are they that lucrative?
unless you are holo or ex big corpo name, i cannot imagine how it is worth it monetarily. picrel puts it into perspective.
maybe they can be worth it if you can sell your concert to a convention and it offsets costs

every vtuber now wants a piece because they see what other vtubers are doing and want to feel like they are doing something too.

>>
>>111626725
Concerts are fun even if my chuuba is objectively meh at singing. It's nice hearing her improve and seeing her work hard to put on a good show for her fans.

With a few shows now under her belt, she's also improved a ton since the beginning.
>>
>>111626915
You retard, Vtubing is the only avenue idols have in the West. You can't have it in 3DPD otherwise people will just think it's Miss Teen USA or Sean Combs girl group exploitation. It's what keeps chuubas distinct from other egirl slop.

I'm more baffled people would want a vtuber concert. You're watching a videoscreen which might as well just be a recording of stiff awkward performances.

Who gives a shit about idol shit? Singing is fun though. You don't have to be an idol to sing. They can sing some REAL music like Kendrick Lamar

>>
>>111644515
I don't think it's profitable for anyone but holo, too much money and time investment
>>
>>111658849
I don't think Oshispark would continue doing indie 3D concerts if they weren't at least breaking even, especially given more limited income sources (only ticket sales + merch, no superchat/membership cut)
>>
>>111651226
you're the same type of person that thinks the miku concerts are shit too

We're creating an idol culture without mindbroken unicorns

>>
>>111658938
i don't know oshisparks set up. i do know their 3d mocap is pretty poor compared to japanese companies.
>>
>>111658849
it depends.
OshiSpark has to pay for talents, rent venues, then there is renting space to record the concert, post production etc and it will get very expensive very quick. It is my understanding that OshiSpark is also run by people who are ultimately well off vtuber fans, so they are not doing this for profit neccesarily, and rather are supporting oshis.

an agency like hololive or Phase doesnt have to pay the talents anything because it is a built in responsibility. Unlike OshiSpark, they have both sold their concerts to conventions so that helps offsets costs + dont have to pay to rent a venue in con concerts. hololive has their own studio which reduces costs greatly vs. the amount of lives the produce. Phase works with all types of 3d studios. I know the Invaders Wish project according to some of the talents was considered disappointing but that had a bunch of unnecessary extras attached to it like the concert itself, 4 2d outfits, album etc it really could have done without all of that fluff. the Phase Anime NYC concert didn't lose money, but it didn't make money either because iirc they made a deal with SPWN that if they produced the concert for no charge up front then they get all of the streaming ticket profits which was probably a shit load because it was Mint's first time doing a 3D concert
>>
>>111658849
phase tries to record a bunch of 3d lives at once, which makes it cheaper because if you are renting a studio for a day or two they just record as much shit as possible. last year they filmed offkai & san japan concerts at the same time. then in november filmed lia's 3d live, a valentines day live, and white day live at the same time. this year they recorded a bunch in japan at least 2 concerts for phasecon with suspicion of a couple more whether it be origins concert or alias concert or other lives. lia made comment the other day about how demanding it has been especially on her because she is a strong dancer and cant get by on just singing, so she has to learn a lot of dances for multiple concerts at the same time.
