I don't think things get better. But if you live through rough patch after rough patch, you might develop the inner strength or find the tools to survive, and maybe make the suffering tolerable. I used to be an "it gets better" believer, but there's absolutely no guarantee of that. There's a good chance for "you get better", if you find a way to keep going, though. Also, I'm one of the weirdos who actually cares, even without knowing you.
