Let's be brutally honest, the VTubing bubble has long popped and the wheels are just turning at this point. Sure, there's still people coming and going in terms of talent and corpos but it's such a crowded field these days.
It's harder to become successful and the glory days (aka the COVID era where work-from-home was super common) are long gone. If you wanted to give it a serious try, it's near impossible unless you actually have good connections and proper networking.
So what really is the next fad that people will jump onto in terms of multi media and content creation? And just like people on VRChat became VTubers when the opportunity arose, will they make the jump to the next shiny thing once VTubing is old and busted?

There's no guarantee that there is ever going to be something new.
>>
>>111942473
Now the tourists leave and then silver age of vtubing will start
>>
>>111942701
It's dramafags and doomscrollers who are still here.
>>
>>111942741
You mean the catalog? Those are the tourists I'm talking about. Once you all leave then the silver age can start.
>>
>>111942473
I thought about this. What really drove vtubing was the grassroots energy of the NND scene exploding into the mainstream. Which was bubbling for years, and it's why EN vtubing feels so different by comparison. Once you realize that everything makes more sense. It's like why it's hard to capture the energy of 00's 4chan. It was not just a corporate product.
>>
>>111942913
Well, what place has energy bubbling now?
>>
>>111942950
If you have to ask, you're not young and hip enough to know
>>
Without the lid a pressure cooker has no pressure. Depressingly, the last time I've felt energy it was in whorification, which is done now. All the energy in vtubing escaped to the atmosphere. Maybe the next thing is not even online.

Culture war BS, oversexualization, politicization, is what killed it in the west. Westerners are too low-trust to ever have anything nice, it's the same reason why everything else is dead.

Vtuber fans in japan actually don't care if you're a foreigner, male, transgender, chud, etc, as long as you don't bring it up and stay in your lane. The thing that matters is if you're entertaining, knowledgeable, funny, or kind They're true otaku who care for the art form.

Vtuber fans in the west are complete degenerates with no loyalty. Every single vtuber community has members itching to yell at each other or be passive aggressive, and the vtubers openly hate their fans. When you don't have psychotic low IQ psychophrenics shitting up a community, you have tourists who have open contempt for anything anime (TVA, etc.) and just want to simp for women. Nearly every single vtuber fan in the west is cut from the same cloth as gacha players, and they behave exactly like they do: zero loyalty.

The unicorn/entertainer relationship in japan is far more honored. The unicorns are actually loyal, and the entertainers don't do stupid shit. For those who don't do this relationship, they actually behave quite well and only really anti on certain sites.

Vtubing is also "normal" in japan, since anime culture is their culture. It doesn't have to deal with being some sort of exotic thing, which causes MASSIVE aura loss and restricts what you can do as a vtuber. It's nearly impossible to get reasonable, normal fans.

Vtubers in the west are also complete shit, cliquey and rotten as all hell, because they're cast away nerds who have been scorned their entire lives, now given relative power and superiority to others. They act like total psychopaths with this.

You won't ever have a good fandom in the west again unless there's a total revamp of western society that focuses on intellectualism and totalitarian methods against schizos and other stupid people. Japan, china, south korea, etc. actually have a much higher IQ than the west in general, so their fandoms are more well behaved. You would be shocked at how massive a difference a few IQ points makes when it comes to behavior and community sustainability. The only good communities in the west are the ones who demand a high level of expertise. This was also the last time the western internet was "good" -- when it required specialized equipment and skills most people did not have.

I'm just speaking a stream of consciousness right now, I don't care enough to format a real argument in this dying shithole internet, but I hope you get what I mean.

Vtubing is doomed, the next big thing will be deep dive VR, biohacking, or elitist communities that withhold and control knowledge
>>
Does there have to be a next? More vods exist than any of us have time to watch in our lifetimes. You know how Will Smith in that one movie where he's the last man on earth watches tapes of morning TV every day, we could just do that forever and have a nice fantasy.

Streamers live and die on being able to chat about them with other people. It's the community you get with them, that keeps people watching. Fandom is more important than people realize, because media consumption is inherently a social activity. If you don't satisfy that urge, why even consume media at all unless it teaches you something new or challenges you in some way?

There are billions, if not trillions of hours of dead lets play channels scattered across youtube. Vtubing will lie in the same grave.
>>
>>111944140
You're crazier than the chud above
>>
>>111944197
The chud has a few points
>>
>>111944193
Yeah it's that collective energy that blurs the lines between creators and consumers, which is VERY different than 'CONSUME' being pushed on you by a corporate entity whose main concern is metrics. This is by no means a dilemma that's only faced by vtubing either, it's how commodification hollows out authenticity. Which has been obvious for some time, btw. All those urges to create, to connect, to innovate, and to self-express can still survive. And they will.

I don't wanna use discord so I can't chat about my streamers.

I think vtubing will die off in the west because the hobby has too bad of a reputation. A lot of people (correctly) see vtubers and their fans as grifters and lunatics. As numbers (and incomes) dwindle, you'll see vtubers get more and more mentally unwell, which will hasten the decline of the hobby. There just isn't any new blood coming in, and old fans are inevitably going to get bored or move on. AI poisoning the well and making people disconnect certainly isn't helping.

There will always be "vtubers" but I think the fad has passed, and its only downhill from here. Bigger zeitgeists have come and gone.
>>
>>111944444
I think the concept is less novel and exciting over time
>>
>>111944444
I kind of look it at like punk. It had its cultural moment from about 1977-1980, which really isn't that long. But it didn't exactly disappear completely either.
>>
>>111944540
What was next after punk?
>>
>>111944626
After 1980? Rock and metal became mainstream
>>
>>111944626
If you mean to look for a comparison to vtubing, it will fragment and evolve. /pol/tubers have almost nothing in common with vsinger chuubas.
>>
>>111944854
So young people will get excited over versions of the same stuff we had and we'll just be old and lame and without culture
>>
>>111944854
I think transhumanism and "evolution" will be the next big things in society, as technology gets better. Zoomers are already hardcore into kinning shit, and the world is tending towards hardcore racism and elitism. All they need is an outlet and the ability to become more than human, to become superior to their enemies, and they will take it.

We're just not there yet, but unless we nuke ourselves it'll happen. Rushia is ahead of the game be truly believing herself to be her character.
>>
>>111945154
So instead of laughing at people playing games at their computer they will do new pharmaceutical drugs and medicinal procedures to change their bodies in their free time?

You're already there. Why do you think clavicle was so popular among men? Zoomers are terrified of growing old and are already doing shit like leg lengthening surgery or extreme makeup or ozempic. It will only get more extreme.

The natural conclusion of a world where everyone beats their chest about how nobody is equal and the weak and ugly must be snuffed out is a world where everyone is in a desperate arms race to become prettier, smarter, more violent than their perceived enemies.
>>
>>111945368
Plastic, pixel, or pathetic. Take your choice
>>
>>111942767
The tourists are all that's left, anon
The actual fans left after the hack

Ken-sama...

Twitter ragebaiting for money, it's the reason so many people get the blue checkmark.
>>
>>111944053
If chud wasn’t a white jap supremacist this would be a reasonable argument
Westerners who know about vtubing and is a small minority filled with mostly trannies furries and greasy losers making the viewers and vtubers themselves all a pack of losers too
In Japan normal amicable people are into anime and know about vtubing making the scene more stable and everyone can actually get along with each other
Hopefully the English vtubing scene crashes and burns out quickly before we get some jeet tubers
>>
>>111942473

It's so funny seeing you doomposting and being like "uUuUuh Vtubing is dead"

Yeah, it's not what it was in the pandemic but we can say the same about streaming in general

"Oh but there's drama" yeah and there's also numbers, new faces that appear from time to time. It's not as easy as before but it's also not over

You wanna know how a dead Vtubing community truly looks like? Learn spanish and investigate why tf we all were forced to switched to english
>>
First gen western vtubers are white weeb women who learned Japanese. The culture that produced them no longer exists. Instead we have second order chuubas inspired by the success, fame, money of Holo and the twitch thot industry.
>>
>>111948183
The actual activities are stale. Corpos cycling through brands or new plants surfacing doesn't mean what they do is new or exciting.
>>
>>111948183
>Learn spanish and investigate why tf we all were forced to switched to english
isn't this because they streamed on Facebook?
