Because there are no good tools to make kayfabe videos. Motion capture was a huge breakthrough, but aside from capturing your face and talking, it's super limited. How do you make things happen? A doujin writer can make creatures, monsters, fight scenes, scenery, etc.A 3d animator can make a fight scene.As a vtuber, what can you do? At best you can do lame skits with you talking to the camera, it's even more limited if you have a 2D avatar and not 3D. Just shitposting. If you're an elf warrior that fights trolls in a fantasy land, what exactly can you do in vtubing? Keep saying all the time "ohh yes I'm totally an elf you guys..., did I mention I'm an elf?" Can you walk around? Do fight scenes? Direct the camera? Destroy a building? Make environments?What's the point of kayfabe if you cannot make cool things with it?You gotta know 3D animation, 3D modeling, or 2D animation which takes months, or compromise and do static drawings in a slideshow. "Vtuber debut narrated animatic". Even if you have expensive body tracking like Filian, you are still just walking around, making interactive environments and writing storylines is insanely time consuming and expensive.Maybe you can do videos on vrchat, some people have tried making movies with it, but it's super limited, you need a lot of unity knowledge to make unity avatar stuff, and gathering people to commit to filming is nearly impossible unless there is a lot of money.
