Anyone have a good Fantasy book recommendation? ive gone through tones of Horus Heresy books but have never actually read a Fantasy one. (total blunder as i only play fantasy lol)
>>8111017>1.) The Great Book of Amber (it's a mystery, don't read spoilers)>2.) The Elric Saga (before Michael Moorcock sucked, part of the Eternal Champion series)>3.) Children of Hurin (best Tolkein book)>4.) Her Majesties Wizard (oldschool white mans isekai)The Chronicles of Amber is the one you should read. The Great Book of Amberis all the books combined into one big book, so get that one. It's the only book I'd everrecommend to anyone. For fucking freaks Dancers at the End of Time, but only the first bookin that arc is good, the rest arent very good. Also part of the Eternal Champion series. The Elric Saga is the best place to start with Eternal Champion because it directlydeals with the gods, the multiverse, and all the mystery stuff a lot more directly. Otherbooks will reference those details, otherwise you don't need to know the rest to get the fullexperience. Dancers is like VRCHAT for gods and just as perverted.Children of Hurin is Christopher Tolkein writing an actual full story about the First Age, whichwas the peak of Middle Earth. Lord of the Rings took place in the third age, after all the coolstuff happened. First age and prior to first age is when everything awesome happened. The Silmarillion is worth reading but you'd really benefit from looking online at maps and artif you do because it's largely a book of lore and most people will not enjoy it if they're not veryinto fantasy. Her Majesties Wizard is just fun. A nerd gets sucked into a medieval type magical world where everythingis literal. A knight can never lie, if anyone is knighted they suddenly become that archetype andautomatically have all the skills and strengths, as well as constraints. Has some interesting literaryreferences but nothing obnoxiously obscure. Dude can create spells by reciting poetry. There's a drunk dragon.
>>8111027oh yo, ty. ill check those out
>>8111027Oh lol, i meant to ask for Warhammer Fantasy books to be specific, but i like these other titles aswell. i think ill do Children of Hurin first.
Anyone has any idea of what is happening on pic related or at what part of the lore (if any) is it referring to?
>>8117557It appears to be a march of mutants, likely based off the mutation table from Warhammer Fantasy TTRPG. Off the top of my head:>Skinwolf>Chaos Organ>Elastic Limbs>Hunchback>Prehensile Tail>Sensory Loss>Skeleton>Vestigial/Parasitic Twin
>>8120653>march of mutantsYeah. They are trying to corrupt the land they are maching on. Thanks for the list as I forgot some of the names they do have. Will the nude girls be an addition of the artist then?
>>8111030>>8111017For Warhammer Fantasy books there is none better than the Gotrek and Felix series, especially the earlier entries. Most of the whole series is great but the first 7 entries by William King, Trollslayer up to Giantslayer, are reminiscent of the pulpy sword and sorcery feeling of Conan the Barbarian. If you're a fan of Warhammer Dwarves then the War of Vengeance and Masters of Steel and Stone series are fantastic too. The Sigmar series starting with Heldenhammer is great too, it follows Sigmar through his early life into the forging of te Empire. I liked the Brunner the Bounty Hunter books too and though they weren't my cup of tea most people would recommend the Malus Darkblade series, a WHF take on a Drizzt style character archetype.
