>>5840430From what I've heard apparently the way a lot of editing is done on modern films really REALLY fucks it up for a lot of dark scenes because the screens used for that process are notably brighter. Everyone forgets "Oh yeah... most TV screens and monitors aren't even 1/4th this bright" and it doesn't get properly adjusted for that. As a result it ends up hitting the small screen looking like barely discernible dark blobs and may not even show properly on theater screens if it's bad enough. It's especially bad with older TVs where the detail is just flat lost to the blobs entirely.
