4chan is dying, if not considered dead already, and so is anonymous internet culture on every part of the internet.
The capital "I" Internet should never have been released beyond the US and the Western world.
>>5969861Proof?
>>5969861Bots and shills make up about two-thirds of the daily posts on this site, while the remaining third of actual humans has been overrun by people who either don’t care or don’t belong here.
>>5969877>Bots and shills make up about two-thirds of the daily posts on this sitethe 4chan staff knows and encourages this
>>5969861at this point I think it's definitely dead, the internet in general feels dead to be honest, so much ai garbage, and garbage in general. I really only have a few places I go to for enjoyment on the internet anymore, I think I'm only gonna start only checking up on 4chan every few weeks or so now
>>5969960Where else do you go?
>>5969861>anonymous internet culturei don't care the slightest fuck about that. the only purpose that 4chan has served for humanity is unfiltered international discussion between anons. all the memes and shit are just a funny side effect, and at times even a necessary means to push forward the discussion (like the npc meme, all tranny memes, hyperborea and sigma edits) and shield against shills (like glowie meme, echo parens, whos), but it certainly is nothing worth preserving on its own (only exception being gondolas perhaps). and i don't know the current state of affairs, but if half of 4chan posters are actually llm bots, then 4chan has lost every right to existence anyway, which is a shame, but only because that particular space of discourse is lost, not because its culture is dying with it.
>>5969861As long as there is no literal reset of the Internet and there are no more countries trying to make laws that gatekeep people from using it without a digital/uploading a physical ID card, we will be fine.
>>5969983One quarter of anons are also shills, BBCspammer transvestites, and obvious glowies actively posting on 4chan that make irrelevant "woman topic" threads 35+ times a day. You see them more often on the rotten containment boards like /r9k/ the special education classroom, /adv/ the redditard normalfaggot space where everyone literally copy-pastes platitudes from retarded alien website(tm), and of course /lgbt/ where 35 year old manchildren LARP as cute anime girls in middle school, starting first with their OP pics being chibi characters made by female (biological woman) artists.

>>5969861>>5969996>>5969960God stop your whining. As someone who started browsing this site in 2006, "b" was never good. This site has always been majority shitposts with some absolute gems of discussion sprinkled in. You've always had to sift threw the shit to find the gold.I think the reason 4chan isn't quite as energized now as it was before was because millenials in the early 2000s were still optimistic about the future and life in general but now that 4chan is majority Gen Z the culture has shifted from hive-minded manic sadism to a bunch of low energy, dopey-mopey, depressed pussies bitches. Once the spastic memelords known as Gen A start posting here in serious numbers, I think things will change once again.
>>5969861t. 2010 Newfag; I'd say some boards are much more shit than they used to be (/pol/ for one), as well as either heavily astroturfed by bots, or shills to a much greater extent than the past. Normies flooding a lot of the internet in the early 10s pushed a lot of retards here which messed the place up a bit too in terms of shitting on anime and manga more than it ought to have (considering this is a mongolian baskeat weaving site after all)./b/ was always shit, /wsg/ still feels like old chinz so i just browse here mostly (and /pol/ even though I fucking hate that board). /v/ is full of gacha slop or fotm streamer shit. /ck/ is still good for a laugh, and /vt/ make me want to kill myself (but i still browse it).Is 4chan kill? Dunno, the blackout a few months back made me (and a lot of other anons) realise how shit this place is, but then again we're all still here posting so who knows. Old chins is pretty much dead, and died a long fucking time ago, but as a place to just shitpost and discuss world afairs in a open way there's probably no better place desu. >inb4 kys
>>5970132I can't really say because I haven't been here as of much late but hasn't /wsg/ become more and more slow over the years?
>>5970138I mean, most of the boards seem slower than they were 10 years ago either way. But yeah, /wsg/ isn't as fast as it used to be either, but then again some of the older parasocial threads that brought a fair amount of traffic here have vanished. Being a parasocial faggot isn't as stigamitised as it once was, so guessing they moved on to other boards.
>>5969861>anonymousAnonymous?
>>5970119good points anon, I like the generation theory you have
>>5969998nhnb mentioned!
i think the website is dwindling in both influence and traffic for a lot of reasons. this place is poorly managed as we saw earlier this year, which im sure broke many peoples routines of coming here, and from the greater marketshare mobile use has in the online space. desktop computers are not as ubiquitous as they once were, a lot of traffic comes from mobile and 4chan not having a mobile option makes it obtuse to use for a generation that predominantly accesses the internet through mobile. it is a 20 year old website though, things cannot remain static forever.
>4chan is blah blah blahyeah, whatever. I'm just pissed that I can't celebrate 9/11 on /f/ anymore and I need to go to one of the most r/4chan boards there are

>>59698614chan has been dead for like 10 years now. Name one new meme that has come from here in that time. >>5971855I thought porn images tend to be larger than others
>>5971855It also used to be 2MB (lower than other boards) in 2012/2013 and probably before.
people monetize their memes on tiktok. used for think tanks to push messages. reels and reels and reel. but where is the real art?I see alot of destructive force on here now. creative force not so much. modern"4chan" rhetoric has infiltrated every single normie social media platform. 4chan has been normalized. but its been wrongly stereotyped. i remember when anons hated the trolls just as much as they hated bronies. but now, now. the jokes, the trolls the rhetoric have reached a new professional level the likes only some investment bank can afford and refine. 4chan isn't dead. its just some assholes parading around in 4chan masks. 4chan is an art. and good art. not AI slop is sorely missed. maybe its not the art. maybe its that care free risk taking jackass shit thats gone, now its just school shooter manifestos. once the card stand was knocked over that was the end of it.
When 4chan had its blackout I felt kind of lost. Sure, i occasionally go to reddit to find some dumb memes at various specialty subreddits, but its not the same as the unfiltered dumb bullshit you find here. And the other alternatives are even grimmer. Facebook, twitter, instagram, complete slop with no soul. I've been around on an off since 2008, and this is the one piece of the internet left that still feels like home. Even if the walls are rotting and collapsing around me, I don't want to leave.
>>5971975no, it was 4 MB. Hiroyuki Nishimura took over 2015 and lowered /b/'s filesize limit to 2 MB to "save bandwidth" even though it wasn't even the most browsed board by then.
The site's traffic's fine, it's about anon constantly attacking anon which is a behavior that makes everybody not want to have fun. Anons having fun talking to each other about a subject is Everything.I try to tell people that their war's over, to calm down, that we are not overrun by newfags because who the fuck comes to 4chan in 2025 lol, do you realize how boring and old we are?I have had good results just by making unrelated jokes in a thread to lighten the mood and anons respond to that spark and it's a long lasting shift for the thread.
It was fun while it lasted.
>>5969861It started to get shit in late 2004 or early 2005 and has gone downhill from there.

>>5972254I agree, but this isn't simply confined to 4chan, this is a shift online everywhere. Hyper aggression constantly towards any perceived slights, symptomatic of being chronically online. >>5972328call me paranoid but I think the mean spirited-aggression here and elsewhere is forced upon us by alleged bots, setting the tone for the developing minds of younger generations that use social media to emulate themselves with others (a type of brainrot function like television was ), that identity matters more than sense/truth (you see it when theyre backed against the debating wall, to retort with "well at least im not a fag/incel/nazi/tranny")And now its everywhere that we're in the minority, ...but it was originally here that it was needed most to stop this website from being proxy for classified information that I believe it became - beyond the funny memes of the mid 00s - further fostering dissidence. In my view it was here and liveleak that were the premier place for unfiltered news to a wide audience which lead to too much loss of faith in the goverment. So now theyve disabled webarchiving, openapis, thrown a ton of bots in everywhere with legit looking accounts to seed an excuse of plausible deniability wherever / whenever a controversy erupts. To inhibit progress towards holding powerful entities accountable for what amount to open secrets eg epstein / JFk Its not like sensitive news regarding these things are posted anywhere except the internet, as the IC need to have handles on news outlets, which have a precedence...*sigh* tldr: mfkn robots shitposting make internet less fun.. somehow i feel zoe quinn was a turning point

We trash each other on the internet for any little opinion. Imagine a young mind trying to construct himself in that environment, he can't exist here without protection so he enters military camps brandishing one opinion or the other and by doing so he gains enemies. He trains to fight as to not become an outsider. Conflict and arguments become his template for basic interactions. He can't imagine discussing peacefully with someone of uncertain allegiance because that's suicide in a warzone, better assume that it's an enemy and blast him before he does. Failure to perform the correct handshake is a clear sign that the interlocutor is not an ally. For him dialogue in the open, outside of the safespace, serves the singular purpose of defending or attacking positions. It must be what the internet looks like to someone new who doesn't know any better and internet topics are the topics of real life, the internet can no longer be escaped, being a part of the greater society is being terminally online. people have said the site and site culture has been dead for over 10 years. the culture has definitely changed a lot, but recently i've begun to enjoy using it again. i simply don't engage with faggots, make posts directed at the people i want to talk to, and make oc when i can. not saying it's as great as it used to be, and some boards have become extremely low quality. however, 'be the change you want to see' applies. a thread can be filled with shitheads, yet you can make a post directed towards likeminded anons and they will often respond.
>>5970119I've been here off and on for around the same amount of time and have definitely noticed the generational shift. That said, claims 4chins is in decline are nearly as old as the site itself.
>>5974578This is the most productive way to use this site. And you don't even have to limit yourself to the topics of the boards unless you go completely off-topic. >>5978303its not as easy as it was, you face a fuckton of bs nowadays expressing yourself.>>5978306trolling others was fun, for a cause.shitting up the 4chan boards pretending to be retarded was frowned upon generallly , why you wouldve heard "dont feed the trolls" so often back then... It was a cool place as a highschooler to visit, even into early adulthood as it was the place you saw news about confidential leaks. Here was where I learnt israel was hiring Indians to brigade online for them, of software used by the NRO to emulate a thousand accounts to flood social media sites etcIt really was one a kind site
>>5978306And everybody was mad at trolls. The end.
>>5978356>shitting up the 4chan boards pretending to be retarded was frowned upon generalllyI think this is the problem now. It used to be you'd post ragebait to get laughs and you were just satirical enough that you'd earn as many laughs as genuine replies, but now it's just low quality posting.
>>5978057fuggin basado>>5978303takes a lot to shift the culture back 15 years anon, shit aint happening and will never happen, especially with the sheer volume of people now on the internet>>5978373>now it's just low quality posting/b/ should've been a stronger containment board, but shit spread everywhere in 2016 and whenever the reddit purge happebed (and the tumblr exodus which caused the domino effect that made leddit shit that pushed faggots here)
>>5978356>expressing yourselfRide the wave instead of attempting to force people to notice "(You)".I'm having fun all things considered. Been here for over 20 years by now and the site is in a better state than one could have ever hoped for.
>>5978457honestly i never wouldve even attempted being anxty teen 20 years ago, never saw myself as so 'out there' compared to others that made these boards feel so lively, but their banter I enjoyed
>>5978950It's completely unrelated to being "out there" or not.I stumbled onto 4chan via /w/allpaper, then /a/nime, then /v/idya. The mid-to-late 2000s were truly a golden age of anime. And the whole PS3/Wii kerfuffle was fucking amazing.20 years ago was extremely fun. As is today. Don't be afraid and ride the wave (while also properly taking care of your RL, obviously, that ought better stay unrelated).

>>5969889This. You think a bot minds the 2 minute timer? It's to dissuade humans posting.
>>596999839 mentioned
>>5972091Nah, it was a nice break from all the slop we receive on this board. Other websites really aren't much different from nu4chan.
>>5981399>boardsite*
>>5975198It's not that loud
or was it this one?
>>5981437It was this one I was after
>>5981435Do not download this one, it sucks
>>5981440I deleted it so you can't
>>5970114That's the main thing it has going for it, but the nature of the site isn't expressed in the purest form anymore. 4chan is now like that little suburban area that get's a highway paved through it, and then what once was a more or less consistant secluded villiage, is now industrialized and somewhat assimilated.>>5970119You are right to some extent, but I KNOW that it was once so much better, I'm not even really an oldfag and I watched this place change quite a bit, there used to be more culture, there were more interesting posts, there were more gems, people made longer and more thought out posts, boards like /pol/ had actual discussion, lots of slop too, but real stuff in the mix. I've said it before, but these days, on this website, memes preceed thought, thought isn't generative, it's not the source of memes, it's not creative anymore. It's like most of this site is now centered around eggregores. You no longer are dealing with people, but that, eggregores. One odd thing about this place these days, is it's hard to even think, you have peace, when you use it. At least for me, when 4chan got hacked and went down, it's death felt like being released from a vice, there was peace, and it almost felt like the wild west again when I was looking for alts, and others too. Seeing the way people scattered, the places people went, and cultures and different characters, which almost became more human outside of here, was interesting. The places I found and what came of it, reminded me of what this place used to be. I don't think this place is inherently bad by any stretch, I don't think it's impossible for good to be here, but as I said before, it's now much more like a highway. The speed of the place doesn't help things. The sheer speed of posts and the amount of them almost prohibits real discussion, things go by so fast, it starts to make discussion an almost primal thing, something which appproximates something like might makes right.
>>5981437Frogposting was the beginning of the end. Cancer like that being widely celebrated invited greater, inoperable cancer.
Its so bullshit my antisocial behavior thread with actual new content got deleted for literally no reason. The rest of the board is either constantly reposted /pol/, animal and dance generals or extremely niche shit only of interest to a few autists. And no /gif/ isn't an alternative due to the 4mb limit and constant degenerate spam sliding the tiny front page
>>5981544It doesn't matter at the end of the day. You can't change the past, but you can create the future. We all have a place in that.
Bump
>>5972444>somehow i feel zoe quinn was a turning point/v/ got pwned by gamergate so probably>>5976969i would imagine such threads are mainly posted by non yanks. even if a yank did post a thread like that, they probably weren't truly American and should be shipped off where their true heart lies.>>5969861people change, or well they probably should change over the years and by extension this site like any other would change as well. it's just, id guess similar to reality, things just arent as they seem.
desu
>>5981558The Jannies purposely remove fun stuff like the avatar poster.Look it the 4chan hack and that explains everything
>>5977183stop him? that's his entire campaign
>>5983388would be funny if the dems helped him win by making that meme. feels like it was like that with trump.>democrats: "we will spread this super bad video of trump saying all these vile things so people don't vote for him">undecided voter: "hm i didn't know trump said that, it makes sense, i can't believe there's a candidate that actually tells the truth for once"
>>5971332Gigachad.
>>5981558OP indicates its closer to 6mb + yours wont get slid instantly here.>>5982498Believe more than just /v/ copt it. zoey 5 guys was brought up everywhere online and signaled to everyone that you could fight back from being called a hack by simply saying "dont attack me for it waaah".Feelings were presented to ultimately be more important than facts (especially if those facts were coming from sweaty gamers), which had a large impact on online discourse everywhere I think. Then rage-baiting spam from glowie-ran discords ensued that fucked up the vibe here considerably...I mean I think before that we had the place self governed with appropriate abuse to retarded posters whomst would accept the advice to lurk moar when told. Even on reddit I remember myself and others being able to freely tell people how retarded their opinion was and receiving community support once upon a time, and youtube (when it had a dislike button). It doesnt work that way nowdays as enshittification is inevitable with everything, usually need to look underground for the good stuff, much like with music.
>>5971332So it happened againYou should visit /sp/ is the most funny board ever.
>>5983504Thanks bro, you too.
>>5969861It will go out like Tickld
>>5969861>t. didn't read threadOP Anon, only good little goy dogs who humbly lick and eat the peanut butter shit out of their rabbi's assholes and like it say shit like "4chan's dead." Those people write for fake news like New Yorker. Even if 4chan is dead, we're too autistic to admit it.
>>5972444It went from "send niggers back to africa" to TND. Of course it's bots. They make everybody out to be evil.
>>5984493I don't like sports.
>>5979024I left the computer for too long and now I'm disconnected. Disconnected from RL and the web. Just a rock on the beach. You see might see it you might not, probably won't care.

Birthday Bump!
>>5976603Damn I have not posted this for years
>>5969861It's kind of wild to think that anons born around the same time as 4chan are now no longer underageb& and can post here. Most things on the internet simply don't last that long. As we move into an era of global internet surveillance, even the quasi-anonymity of 4chan is going to get stomped out eventually. 4chan has no names, no internet points for posting, no internal algorithm guiding anons to things marketers want them to look at. It's one of the last hold-outs of the anarchic old net, and so long as it remains so, and so long as I can, I'll keep coming back here. There's still no place like it. Happy birthday.
>>5971332jaks
>>5985815jaks started as a forced meme everyone opposed besides a few spammers who everyone hated. there was nothing organic about it.
personally i think even if this site is dead it's not a problem :/, i'm not an old person here but at least something is better than nothing
