>>5992775>>5992778Disturbed is my favorite band, but whenever I tell people they just "Ooh-Wah-Ah-Ah" at me and laugh.Shame, their first 4 albums are all hits, and even Asylum and Immortalized have some great tracks.Evolution was... different and I haven't listened to Divisive.

>>5995202Damn, this was in ATV: Offroad Fury 4, and this post reminded me of it.It wasn't as good as the previous three, but still pretty good.
>>5993411The Sickness was cringe but had some good songs.Believe sucked save for prayer. Ten Thousand Fists was peak. Indestructible was pretty good. Haven't heard the rest.

Hi
>Nu-Metal/Alt-Metal/Alt-Rock/GrungeWhat bands enter in those categories/ genres?
>>5991920That's actually pretty true in the sense that a lot of music is produced to give the maximum effect through the equipment that it would typically be played with. Portable MP3 players were in their early days and hadn't achieved the sound quality that could even approach our phones today, so a lot of pop music would have been produced accordingly.
no

>>6021661The 90's were a rough time for established metal bands.Too old for the new kids, and any attempt at changing your sound was rejected by the old guard.I remember even Celtic Frost had that aborted nu-metal project.
>>6021820they spent a long time trying to mash rap and metal together, but it's like orange juice and toothpaste, it just ain't going to work.i don't have a webm, because i wouldn't really want this in my library or anything, but this comes from 1993. (side note: judgement night was actually a pretty good flick.)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ff_M8kcVRekeven into the 00s. mudvayne had rapping in their shit. so did slipknot. pretty sure korn did. i don't think sepultura, but they had roots, and a solid hour of muh tribes was bad enough.the jews really thought they had something with kid rock, and for a minute they did, but he dropped the rap shit as soon as his 3-album record deal was done.

>>6020918i know this is bait, but its crazy and depressing how the 2000s had such high energy authentic music and gen z mostly got soundcloud rap, and shitty corpo pop. even genres i dont like at all had way better music in the 2000s. of course thats me comparing a 5/10 or a 4/10 song to a 1 or a 2 but still. wtf happened?my theory is they changed what music got promoted to create a more passive docile generation. big props to gen z catching up since covid to old bands being more fun to listen to over vibe music.
>>5995687damn i remember listening to this on my shitty boombox/radio growing up in the 90s or early 2000s. cant remember if it was on the radio or a cd i owned but it was kino everytime i heard it.

>>5990807This is the only album that I like, all the other ones sound like noise without being catchy. This is a rare no skip album, listen from beginning to end.
>>5990822Fuck yeah! This was my jam in middle school. I think I first heard Korn on the black ice cd that came with the playstation 1. Heard of rasputina and transylvania concubine on there as well. It wasnt till the Buffy episode with drusilla that I learned who it was that sang it. Recommend greatly rasputina if you like Korn, it is an acquired taste.
>>5993411His unabashed support for israel is disheartening. Same with the stranger things kid. Jerry Seinfeld was always a douchebag so his support isnt a suprise.
>>5996099Static x competes with system of a down with cryptic lyrics that sound good. The new singer is kicking ass with his Wayne mask and does his own spin to the vocals. Unlike drowning pool who went with the lounge singer vocalist. Tragic that the original si ger passed away, both static x and drowning pool.
>>6000105Post some webms. Is there more hit songs?
>>6007441System of a down for sure. Static x, disturbed, sick puppies, fly leaf, kitties, smashing pumpkins, harder danger, local h, union underground. I am trying to remember all the artist that played in the alternative rock station before it shutdown. Hed pe, no handlebars, coconut Dracula, miser, concrete blonde, local h, and no doubt.
>>6009404I got into this band with die and die now. Way better introduction and catchy as fuck. Blind witness, all alone and caliban, paralyzed.
>>6035457My local rock station still plays this daily. How you remind me and voodoo as well. Its like the media conglomerate is stuck in the 00s. No new music, they played one muse song once and then stopped.

Im discovering a bunch of new artist, it's like when I first found the alternative rock station at 10 and started my musical journey. Keep going, guys! Even if this board is slow af!
Would 311 fit into this genres? What about Jah roots? Eve 6?
>>6009477was this on MX vs ATV Unleashed or a video game soundtrack? Sounds very familiar to me. Or maybe MX Unleashed (original ps2)>>6009503Fun fact these guys did the Miami Vice Feel it in the air tonight song remake for the Micheal Mann 2006 Miami Vice movie, underrated, they also had a song in Zzirgrizz the matrix reloaded one of the parts.>>6016629>rage against the machine!>forced vax>nooo... not that machinekek

>>6040473lol its cool, I play bass anyways
>>6040416The beginning sounds like eyeless by slipknot. I got into french singers with alizee and recently with the Cadillac guy.
>>6040493That particular sound in the beginning is pretty much synonymous with the late 90s and early 2000s. So many bands and artists have used it at this point that it's hard to pinpoint who was the one who actually started it, if I had to guess it would most likely would have been some jungle or DnB artist.
>>6040632Yeah, I guess it does sound reminiscent to that. The drum and bass meme does sound like that.
>>6025573I always liked Anthrax more in theory, less in practice.Charlie Benante is wasted on them.
>>6023054>they spent a long time trying to mash rap and metal together, but it's like orange juice and toothpaste, it just ain't going to work. They never surpassed this.
All white people do is steal and rob Black people of their culture, then argue that it belongs to EVERYONE. All music pioneered by African Americans came out of the CULTURE they were forced to make for themselves, and songs were/are inspired by thier struggles. It’s not that long ago that Balck music was labelled “race music”, was banned in most places, and is still lacks appreciation from everyone who isn’t Black. Non-Black always want to all lives matter and don’t gaf about actually understanding what it’s about or where it comes from. Just because it’s available to everyone doesn’t mean it’s for everyone.

based thread used it for an hour long cardio session
The idea of obscure nu-metal bands existing seems so outlandish to me, mainly because I've always seen the genre as a corporate gimmick so I never really thought of the genre having a "scene", but of course it would because which genre doesn't? This thread has been an eye opener.
