The management had felt that this was not the level of performance that the players were capable of, and decided to overhaul the strategy away from their typical interest in silver wing forwards/midfielders. The 2025 Summer Cup rolled around and /wsg/ found themselves matched up against /an/, /his/, and /lit/. This was a rematch that one of the managers was especially excited for given that it was their first loss since beginning their involvement with /wsg/ as a tester, as /wsg/ fell in a 1-3 loss in the 2023 Summer Cup. Now, 2 years later, /wsg/ opened up with a comfortable 2 goal win against the animals of /an/ and demonstrated the abilities of their defense. However, the historians of /his/ were able to read between the lines of the /wsg/ backline and surgically tore it apart to lock in a 5-2 loss for wussug. Needing a win, /wsg/ found themselves in a draw from a late Pinecone goal at 78'. Needing a miracle for promotion, /wsg/ pushed everybody to attack, You Should Kill Yourself... Now! was able to find a surging Gondola, and the comfy lil' guy slotted a shot into the back of the net at 90+3' to bring the score to 2-1. /wsg/ had once more promoted on a desperation goal at the last minute which made commentators and analysts concerned for their success in the knockouts, but the team pressed forward.

Despite the offense's efforts, /biz/ walked away with a dominant 3-0 victory and sent /wsg/ packing in the Round of 16 for the 4nd time in their last 6 cups. Despite their frustrations, /wsg/ can take some pride in currently having the longest consecutive promotion streak at 7 cups as well as having their last 3 losses against the current top 3 ranked teams (#2 /sp/, #1 /his/, and #3 /biz/). The wiseguys have identified and addressed some issues with the team and now look to the 2026 Winter Cup focused solely on doing whatever it takes to earn the second star.

To communicate a bit more from the poll because I think it's good to be transparent and also I think it could spark up some discussion which I always like to engage in:>CaptaincyThe answer from the captaincy question received 13 votes. 5 votes were for direct voting on captain, 5 votes were for medal points determining captain, and 3 votes abstained. Those who wanted to directly vote for captain did not make up the majority of votes, therefore we will continue with medal points determining captain. Gondola had received a total of 25 medal points to beat out Ricardo Milos who only had 24. Despite the results, Ricardo Milos will remain captain. It appears that the rule of thumb that is being followed is that captaincy changes should occur on one of two conditions: The first is a significant difference in medal points, and the second is that if there is not a significant difference in medal points, the new captain should be the top of medal points for at least a couple of cups. Ricardo will lead the charge once more.
