Post Tornadoes
>inb4 yuros ask why those pesky americans dont just design their houses to stay standing when a tornado picks up and throws a semi-truck on top of it
>>6042253Those people are 'tarded, we get tornadoes here too, though obviously in much less numbers, and they're just as destructive to homes, they blow the top off and the rest just goes with it.
>>6042253>>6042444I have never seen a tornado in real life, but as a truck driver I always heard of them. I did arrive in the town of Greensburg, Kansas hours after one of the largest ever known tornadoes wiped it off the face of the earth. Seeing the destruction told me all I need to know about the power present in them. Ignorance is bliss. In the evening hours of Friday, May 4, 2007, a devastating tornado moved through Kiowa County, Kansas, heavily damaging the town of Greensburg. The Greensburg tornado, tracked 28.8 miles (46.3 km) through the area, killing 12 people and injuring 63. The tornado was the first to be rated EF5 on the Enhanced Fujita scale after the retirement of the original Fujita scale in the United States on February 1, 2007.
>>6042468>I have never seen a tornado in real lifeI never did, either, but I have a fun little story where I came pretty close:Spring of, IIRC, 2003-ish. Was walking through a Home Depot to get some stuff for something I was working on. Knew there was some storms on the way but didn't pay it much mind. Heard what sounded like some thunder. Then it turned into really loud thunder. Then it turned into really loud thunder that just never stopped. The whole time, you could hear rain on the roof. Hard rain. The lights in the store even went out for a few seconds but then then came back on. Huh, wow, you don't see that every day, I guess. So I finish buying whatever I was buying and leave the store. Outside, everything's wet. No big surprise. Went back to the job site, finished out my day, and that was that.I get home and turn on the news while I make my dinner, and the local news is outside what's left of a store in my neck of the woods.Turns out, that really loud thunder that never stopped was a tornado. It touched down literally right across the street from the Home Depot I was in, picked up a car and dropped it on a minimall, ripped the roof off an ABC warehouse and dropped that on a parking lot full of cars, then dissipated and that was that.Funny thing is I drove right past that ABC warehouse on my way out of Home Depot and didn't notice anything. Specifically not a roof in the parking lot.

>>6043664>>6043663>>6043662>>6043659It's crazy to think how long ago the Joplin tornado was. It's crazier when you realize that you can still see it's track when you look at the satellite map.
>>6042128i read that this guy's wife was downstairs and died, while he was upstairs on the 2nd floor and somehow survived his house collapsing

>>6042124I've been looking for this one for forever
>>6042124Remember when they talked about dropping silver from airplanes and hitting it with lasers to create rain and then Joplin happened? A severe rainwall tornado. Crazy huh?

>European seeing a tornado Aaaaah! It's the end of the world! Oh no!>American seeing a tornado It's Tuesday huh? HAHAHAHAHAHA
Had a tornado come within a mile of me twice in my life. 2011 was a violent year for tornadoes. 2 months before Joplin , Alabama underwent the superoutbreak on the 27th of April (google it) I belive the number was several hundred in the state in one day. The only F5 came within a mile of me. It tracked from Missisippi all the way to South Carolina I believe. It was constant flashing from lighting. A deep bass in your chest. As it went past the static was so strong our hair stood up on our arms and head , kind of like when you rub a balloon on it. Several towns from that day were hit are no longer in existence. Just concrete slabs. Half the state was without power for days , some parts for weeks. Lucky to be alive.

>>6042899I saw one when I was too young to remember, but that's not the crazy story. One day, I stood on the edge of a cornfield, watching the nasty looking cloud with my buddies and family. Next thing we know, the dirt in front of us starts swirling and we run for dear life. It never fully formed in my area, thankfully, but the next day we learn that just 5-10 miles down the road it did. It ripped metal panels from the local dogfood plant, and leveled the house across from it. The level of "that could've been me" was pretty high that day.
